Just a Fleshwound || First Aid || Callan & Nik
Nik was having trouble focusing on the gash he was trying to stitch up. For one thing, he hadn’t slept well—or nearly at all. ‘So sorry, game maker Phosa,’ his sleep deprived mind piped up and he snorted, ‘I can’t be a tribute, I have insomnia.’
For another thing, the fake limbs they supplied at the first aid station were incredibly realistic. Unnervingly so. The arm he was working on has a dusting of freckles over its skin and dirt under the fingernails. His thoughts had begun on darker paths as to the origins of the provided practice limbs, and he quickly shut the idea out. It seemed too horrifying to consider.
He cursed under his breath as the curved medical needle came unthreaded again, when he realized someone was nearby. It gave him a start, and he wondered how long he’d gone without noticing. He really needed some sleep. Or more caffeine. He smiled slightly with recognition, “Hey, Callan. Appetizing, huh?” he said, gesturing to the rather gruesome contents of the station.
