Day 365 of 365; this is how our street looks like as of the moment, alive and booming. For the past years, we've had this mini yearly ritual of staying at our rooftop and wait for the countdown to start, share some barbeque amongst ourselves and just savor the moment. This year, we simply had pizza, chicken, and some take out pasta because we all think it's a little wasteful if we will cook more than we can consume and just reheat them the next day. We also don't have that much energy to celebrate because while welcoming the new year, we remember the things that happened as we bid goodbye to 2018. It may take more than a year to finally move on and move forward but I'm sure my family will. We've survived worse situations than what we have right now, and we are positive we will survive this yet again. And we look forward to yet another year of plentiful blessings and perhaps trials but with God and determination and unity, we will make it through. 2018 wasn't the easiest year I had, to be honest. I was constantly struggling between listening to what my heart desired and following what my mind (and others around me) dictated. I met people I never knew I'd be friends with, but I also lost some significant persons along the way. There were challenges I thought were insurmountable, like boat rides that almost drowned me in tears. However, I still have a lot to be thankful for, and I'll take all the lessons I learned this year to try again (and make better decisions, choices, & chances). Truly, rock bottom will teach you things that the mountain top never will. 2018 has taught me that a lot of the times, it's not up to me. That life is 90% how I react to it. Sometimes, you have to let it be. Sometimes, you have no choice, but you have to make the most out of it. And the last, fake it 'till you make it. Thank you to those I've met, whether you were a blessing or a lesson to me. I'm sorry to all those I've hurt along the way when I was hurting too. I will miss those I've lost, but I'll always remember all of you. To those who stayed even when they had all the reasons to leave, thank you too.
