Take Shelter || Night of Day 4 || Thalia & Nik
He still hadn't slept. His skull throbbed with a migraine, everything hurt. He felt like he was going out of his mind. The bed in the Capitol suite was the finest he'd ever had, but he couldn't get comfortable. His head was too full of thoughts all jumbled together and tripping over each other. A car horn from below on the Capitol streets sent a white hot bolt of pain through his skull. He curled in on himself, eyes squeezed shut against the threat of tears.
Then, unprompted, an image of Thalia's softly smiling face rose in his mind. He remembered her offer. It was late, and he'd worried before that she had only offered to be polite, but he was desperate.
He slipped silently from his room and out of the suite to the elevator. He didn't see any Peacekeepers about, which he was thankful for. They probably only really cared if a tribute tried to escape. The elevator stopped at floor eleven and he stepped out into the dark, quiet suite. He tip-toed to the room he was fairly certain was Thalia's and knocked quietly at the door, careful not to wake anyone else in the suite.
"Thalia?" he whispered, "Thalia, it's Nik."
