Day Five Prompt: Count on Me (Gajevy)
“And what color is this?” Levy asked, smiling when she pointed to her hair.
Her infant daughter giggled and said. “Bwu!” Tiny hands ruffling her own curly hair. “Wike me!”
Levy laughed and nodded. “That’s right! Good job, Lulu. Now, can you count for momma?”
Lulu scrunched her tiny nose up as she squinted her eyes and thought for a long moment before saying. “Count?”
Levy nodded. “Yes, remember we’ve been learning to count numbers?”
“Hey, Levy, have you seen my red sweater anywhere?” Gajeel asked, poking his head into the playroom.
He grinned when Lulu squealed his name, chuckling before bending down and scooping her up. “Hey, squirt, did ya miss me?”
She giggled as he held her upside down by her ankles and gently swung her back and forth. “Wee! Swing me dadda!”
After a moment he straightened her and blew a raspberry against her chubby cheek, chuckling when she squealed and tried to push his face away with tiny hands.
“We were just about to count.” Levy said. “And I think your red sweater was in the laundry basket.”
Gajeel turned to Lulu and lightly tapped her nose. “Counting, eh? Why don’t you show your old man what you learned.”
She placed her tiny finger lightly on the piercing under his lip. “One.” she said slowly, moving her hand up to touch the next stud. “Two...” She reached up and began counting the ones on his nose. “Twee...fouw...five...six...seben...nine.”
Gajeel chuckled. “You missed one.”
She looked at him, face puckered in an adorable frown, brows drawn low over dark red eyes that matched his. “No, I aweady counted one.”
Levy giggled from where she was sitting. “He means you forgot to count eight, sweetheart.”
Gajeel nodded. “Yep, and you sassed me, which means...punishment time!”
She squealed and tried to escape as he began to tickle her. “D-dadda stop! That tickles!”
“That’s the idea, squirt! Do you surrender?”
She poked his cheek hard and growled fiercely. “Never surrender!”
He grinned. “That’s my girl. Go back and count with your momma now, I’ve got to go pick Beowulf up from the guild.” He smooshed his face against her cheek and made a loud kissing sound before ruffling her hair and handing her to Levy. Then he leaned down and gave his wife a long kiss. “Love you.”
She smiled and hummed happily. “Love you too, dinner is at seven.”
He straightened and headed for the door. “Right, see you then!”
Levy turned back to Lulu and smiled. “Alright, so what comes after nine?”
