The boy found the cloak in a pile of old clothes in his great-aunt’s attic. Something drew him to it. A simple pile of dusty, mothball-smelling clothes, and yet a shimmer peeked out at him. He crawled toward it, not minding the wood planks skinning his knees. Later, he would not be sure if he reached for the cloak, or it reached for him. But he had it in his hands and it seemed to wrap itself around him. His vision became clear. He understood things now, that he hadn’t before...where his father went. Who it was his mother was seeing now. What had happened to put them in this situation of living with their great-aunt. 

His great-aunt was sipping her tea and munching on a biscuit when her nephew appeared. He was shimmering. His eyes were alive and intelligent. He radiated with life and joy and hope. He had found it. At last!
