I made pan de muertos for the first time since high school Spanish class. I loved it then and I love it now. I used a Bon Appetit recipe this time rather than a printout from my teacher. I didn’t have anise seed so I used fennel seed. And I didn’t have orange flower water so I used orange zest. It all worked great. Both flavors are subtle. It got a lot bigger than I expected. But the texture is perfect. Of course by the time we got home after showing off the boy’s costume to the grandparents (no real trick or treating, thanks pandemic), the bread was ready to eat but all the boy wanted was candy. He likes it, though. He’s a huge boy an of pan dulce and this is very much that. #pandemuertos #dayofthedeadbread #bonappetit #homemade #delicious #yum (at Oakland, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHCO4IiBCaB/?igshid=evr3lci41hci
