July 16th: Day Seven AU
I’m a tad late to the party just cause I got the days mixed up, but hey better late than never right?
1. What kind of Zankyou no Terror AU interests you most?
That’s a tough question, because considering the ending of the show, I want to answer with “an AU where Twelve and Nine survive”, or something along the line, despite the fact that I’m pretty satisfied with how ZnT ended.
Nonetheless, I would like to see:
a Noragami AU: with Lisa being a new god born from all the people who wish for their bullying/abuse to stop and she makes Twelve and Nine her familiars. At first, Twelve is enjoyed and finds an odd creepy interest in the pain of bullied people, but struggles with his humanity (if he was human once how come he feels so detached from everything?) and his feelings for Lisa (is he helping her out because he’s her familiar and he has to or because he wants to?). On the other hand, Nine is super reluctant in the beginning: he refuses to listen to Lisa and refuses to accept he died, constantly seeking his past and wondering how/why he died and who he was as a human. As such, Lisa starts suffering from a lot of headaches and blights spread all over her body (she hides it, because she doesn’t want to worry her familiars) until Nine realizes his actions have consequences and he’s pissed off at himself for letting his personal feelings get in the way of his mission as familiar. In the end, the trio become a super tight family :3
a Persona AU: because I wonder what kind of Persona the crew’d end up with and how they’d react to them, especially Twelve (Fool Aracana personas) and Shibazaki (Justice Arcana personas)
a Magic Kaito AU: Twelve and Nine would have the same background (where instead of artifically recreating the savant syndrome, they’d be tested and experimented on to extend their lifespan and create people who can live much longer) and would be trying to dig and steal all available info about the Athena Plan, the Rising Peace Academy and the important people involved under the guise of a gentleman thief; Shibazaki’d have the same backstory and at first, he’d be interested in catching the two criminals but as time goes on, he makes the connections and realizes that those involved in the Athena Plan are the real frauds, so he’d shift his focus on them, but not give Sphinx a breather (because injustice or not, their methods are kinda wrong) and he’d be real conflicted about going after Sphinx or the powerful men behind the Athena Plan; Five is the woman employed by the men of Rising Peace Academy to catch Sphinx, but she’s a double agent working with Sphinx to make RPA pay for what they’ve done to her. She’d still remain a sarcastic and kinda sociopathic woman with a dark, wry sense of humor and find great interest in toying with people and their feelings (playfully with Twelve and Nine, but more intensely with others). She’d have a conflicted relationship with the boys (an odd mix of rivalry, friendship, mutual interest, strained cooperation) but it’s amazing because they’re such a bunch of genius that they can pull anything off; Lisa would live with her over-bearing mom and she’d be perfectly oblivious to Sphinx (just knowing the bare minimum about them from the news because her mom’s overprotective), but in some random twist of fate, she gets stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time and she meets Sphinx and they gotta keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t blab around about them (but they don’t know that she doesn’t know about them, so it gets super weird).
a reincarnation AU: you know you want it :3
But considering AUs in the ZnT universe, I guess I’d be totally down for an AU where either Five escapes with the boys or doesn’t appear in the show as early as she did (if the show had lasted longer). I remember Nine telling Twelve that they should use “that” (aka the atomic bomb) already, since they didn’t consider Five showing up and wrecking their meticulously-planned operation, so I wonder how the show would have developed had Five not appeared so early or if she had been Nine’s and Twelve’s accomplice from the get-go :P
Uh, besides that, the papa-Shibazaki adopts Nine and Twelve (or Nine and Lisa, because the two look so similar)
in some point in time (whether it’s when they’re kids and the two are just a bunch of regular orphan children or at the end of the show in order to protect them, because he understands their motives and even though they wrecked havoc in the country, he stills sees them as a bunch of lonely children) is always a good cheer-me-up option ヽ(´▽`)/
Or a more generic Twelve and Nine are your regular highschoolers, they meet Lisa and they have a normal highschool experience. That totally works too and I’d be down to read a fanfic or see art of that.
(。◕‿◕。)
2. What are your headcanons for an “everyone lives” AU?
I suppose that after the whole atomic bomb fiasco, Twelve and Nine would lay low for a goooooood while until everything blows over. Lisa’d return to her mom and go back to school: she’s always thinking about her two favorite terrorists and then they mysteriously show up at her school as Kokonoe Arata and Hisami Touji and they all reunite and they all live happily-ever-after (until Nine dies because of the drugs they used on him as a child).
But for a darker headcanon, I suppose Twelve and Nine are arrested, taken into custody and spend the rest of their life in jail (for added fluff: they could find a way to communicate with Lisa real subtly, but they’d still remain imprisoned until they die ._.)
Other headcanons (where Twelve and Nine survive):
our trio (or quatuor if you want to include Five) of dorks decide to visit Iceland and are surprised by how damn cold it is (y'all, if you were Canadians you wouldn’t have that problem, haha). Nine, Twelve and Lisa would be mesmerized by aurorae and the latter two would totally try to take pictures and end up disappointed because the photo isn’t as pretty as the real thing (the same feeling you get whenever you try to take a picture of the moon and it ends up as a white blurry circle ._.) while Five is just sipping her coffee inside an inn and scoffing at the other three being a bunch of children.
Twelve and Nine would totally introduce Lisa to the wonderful world of chess. Despite that she gets pretty good (or at least does an average performance), they’re still leagues ahead, so whenever it’s Lisa against one of the boys, the other gives her subtle hints. When it’s Nine against Twelve and they’re being serious, the two can spend a good 10-15 minutes without making a single move, because they’re mentally testing out many options and combinations and playing chess in their heads (a little like the airport scene with Nine mentally playing chess with Five)
Lisa would learn how to cook, but Nine would still be weary. At first, he’d constantly be hovering around (but casually doing so, claiming he wanted to drink something or munch on a bunch of snacks) to make sure she isn’t burning anything, but once he realizes she’s following the recipes to a T, he’s much more relaxed and sometimes (rarely though) compliments her. It means the world to Lisa when he does. On the other hand, Twelve would be secretly helping her when Nine isn’t around and it’d be his and Lisa’s secret until she can cook on her own. Lisa is super intense about learning how to cook, watching tons of videos and shows and wanting to try millions of dishes, but fortunately, she already has some basics (like cooking noodles or eggs). All she needs to learn is to recognize the turning point between well-cooked and overcooked,
Every month, Lisa, Twelve, and Nine would visit the graveyard of the Settlement, but in July, they’d take a moment to listen to Nine’s music and play soccer (just like they did in the anime) all day. If they’re feeling particularly nostalgic, Nine and Twelve would give Lisa a tour of the place and tell her which room served for what. Also, sometimes, the trio decides to go on a cleaning spree (which involves mowing the grass, tearing the vines growing in the building and sweeping away the dirt/debris accumulated inside).
Matching kururin keychains or kururin bag/phone accessories (courtesy of Twelve)
In their new appartment, Twelve would be the neat freak and Nine would let all non-eletronic devices related stuff trail around. Lisa is more of the “if you take my stuff, put it back exactly where you found it” and she gets super intense when her stuff is misplaced. On the other hand, Nine cleans the place on a daily basis, Lisa on a weekly basis and Twelve once in a blue moon, when he can be bothered (read: fcking bored outta his mind).
When watching horror movies, Lisa would tightly hold Twelve’s and Nine’s hand. Depending on the mood, either of them (very often Twelve), would scare her by yelling “Boo!” or tapping her shoulders during scary moments, leading to Lisa giving the boy the cold shoulder for a few days.
Whenever one of them gets mad or anxious or stressed out, the other two prepare that person’s favorite drink and food and the trio just sits down watching TV.
Lisa once tried the half cola/half green tea + mentos trick on Nine. Unfortunately, the joke fell on her once Nine told her he was the one who taught Twelve the trick in the first place.
After starting anew, Twelve would badger Nine for a new bike (since he totally trashed the other one when he rescued Nine from Five), Nine being the treasurer of the trio. Nine declines until Twelve says “but I wanted to take Lisa on rides! She loved that bike you know?” with Lisa nodding slowly in confirmation and Nine just sighs and prepares the money. It brings a smile to his face though, seeing how cheerful the two of them are (with Twelve spinning Lisa around and her laughing) because he secretly ships them.
Twelve proposes playing “I spy with my little eye…” with Lisa and whenever he says a colour, there’s Nine in the background saying matter-of-factly “It’s a person’s voice, don’t bother.”
Exactly one year after the atomic bomb’s explosion, Lisa would make preparations for a surprise party for Nine and Twelve (whether she succeeds or fails is up to you). The celebration leads to Lisa wondering when Nine and Twelve’s birthdays are and the boys deciding on a date (based on sphinxotp’s cute fic).
Twelve loves curry (and all spicy dishes, actually), while Nine is more of a ramen/traditional japanese dishes fan. Lisa is a sucker for dessert (which prompts Twelve to buy her tons of ice cream, sweets and pocky just to see her smile in delight and enjoy her food).
Feeling particularly cheeky, Twelve proposes to play the pocky game with Nine, Lisa blushing up a storm at the mental images implied. It’s Twelve’s turn to blush when Nine says that “Lisa is a more suitable partner” and he chokes when one day, Nine accepts to play the pocky game ಠ‿ಠ
Twelve trying to teach Lisa how to ride a bike, completely disregarding the fact she has no knowledge about road signs and never even drove a car. He gives up temporarily, but he still sneaks a few books about driving and casually offers to give her lessons (just the two of them).
Lisa is a sucker for manga and anime (it doesn’t matter the genre, she’ll take it). So to please her, Twelve (and rarely Nine) indulge in the manga she’s in at the moment just so he has the opportunity to hear and see her fangirling like a regular teenager. She gets all bright-eyed and her voice gets super light (and for Twelve, who has synesthesia, breathless super happy Lisa voice is a sweet yellow heaven).
Nine telling Twelve, who keeps mentioning relationships, that he only has two options: him or Lisa. “It’s either the person you’ve lived your whole life with or the girl for whom you threw our decade-long plan and location of the atomic bomb to the wind,” Other people who aren’t involved are not welcome in their selective circle.
Whenever they’re together, mostly at school, a lot of people are surprised to find that the three of them talk to each other without honorifics (a sign of intimity and closeness in Japan). It’s odd for Lisa too at first, to call Nine and Twelve Arata and Touji instead of Kokonoe-kun or Hisami-kun, but she warms up soon enough.
Nine is the kind of guy who downloads movie on the internet and then streams them over the TV instead of going to the cinema. However, there are times when he takes Lisa out to the movies (with Twelve accompanying them because he doesn’t want people to misunderstand and think Nine and Lisa are on a date).
Twelve takes the bad habbit of calling Nine “papa-Nine” whenever he’s refused something. Nine figures enough is enough when Lisa accidently calls him papa-Nine once.
Even though Nine and Twelve have erased most traces of their appearances so that their physical appearance couldn’t be linked to Sphinx, they still like to check up from time to time on Shibazaki (and how he’s doing with the whole juridic mess involving the Athena Plan, the Rising Peace Academy and the U.S. govt’s involvement).
Nine and Twelve have a bad habit of speed reading.
Even though they don’t go trick-and-treating during Halloween, the Sphinx trio waits for November 1rst before buying aaaall the sweets for half the price.
Amusement parks are fun except for Ferris Wheels. Avoid deadly spot.
For their first Christmas together, Lisa makes friendship bracelets for Nine and Twelve. The former attaches his to his phone and the latter to his ankle. Lisa ties her own around her wrist.
She might never say it out loud, but Lisa loved Twelve’s little ankle bracelet. He probably lost it in the fray of their sudden moving to the arcade hideout.
Bed hair is the best haircut for Nine and Twelve, according to Mishima Lisa.
Once Lisa’s hair grows to her shoulders, Twelve feels conflicted. Part of him wants her old short hair back (a throwback to how she looked when they first met), but the other part of him keeps repeating that this is a golden occasion to run his fingers through her hair and claim something was stuck there as an excuse.
Twelve loves trying corny pick-up lines on Lisa. (“Hey want a kiss?” He holds a bag of chocolate kisses. Lisa says yes. He leans up and kisses her :>)
Twelve loves crowds, Nine hates them and Lisa doesn’t care as long as they’re around.
Lisa hates shopping: it’s a residue feeling of when she went shopping with her mom, who would spend hours trying millions of outfit for her daughter and not buy a single thing. But with Nine and Twelve, it’s a little bit more bearable. Just a little.
Twelve is a fan of classic black and white movies.
Nine successfully manages to convert Lisa and Twelve to classic music and soft songs quite easily (in other words, he let Lisa listen to a few of his tunes and she did the work of converting Twelve without actively meaning too).
One of the advantages of being just a little taller than Lisa is that Twelve’s always the first one she comes to when she wants to borrow a shirt. Nine’s clothes flop on her like a dress.
Eventually, Lisa gets her own matching Rolex watch with the colors of the Icelandic flag for her birthday.
All three of them are video game trash.
Lisa wonders how Nine and Twelve found the idea to make video announcement of their crimes with Power Rangers masks to hide their identity. Twelve answers with: “It all began when Nine watched Power Rangers…” Lisa learns that their speeches were mostly improvised (as Nine largely berated Twelve for his “I’m looking for a girl who can make bombs and good curry” comment), but that they spent hours looking up the perfect riddle to ask the police.
When she finds the time, Lisa makes Nine and Twelve sit down and has them watch many classic anime and other shows of her childhood to make up for the time they lost in the Settlement. Of course, a lot of the magic is lost with Nine and Twelve constantly pointing out the flaws in the characters’ logic, bringing up dumb plot points or the two simply not understanding how such childish shows are supposed to make an impact on them. Nonetheless, the bright wonder shining in their eyes and the fact that the two successfully went through all seasons of Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Detective Conan and Pokémon in under two weeks is a formidable feat in Lisa’s eye. She smiles at seeing the two so engrossed in the shows.
All three are addicted to coffee: Lisa likes her with a good amount of sugar and milk, Twelve likes his black and Nine is like Twelve, but he always adds tons of sugar to balance out the bitterness.
Lisa has tons of pictures of Twelve and Nine stored preciously in her phone: grumpy Nine, bedhair Twelve and Nine, smiling Nine (a more common feat these days, yet still very rare), a pouting Twelve, a pair of grinning boys, etc. However, the fridge is completely buried under glossy pictures of the three of them. Lisa’s fave is where they’re dressed in yukatas (and Nine and Twelve looking awfully good in them :>)
Since Lisa’s stuff was stolen when Five kidnapped her, Twelve lost his precious belonging when he crashed to distract Five from murdering Nine and after the atomic bomb rendered all eletronic devices null, the first thing Nine set upon was finding a new computer. From there, he worked his way to buy Twelve, Lisa, and himself iPhones (so they could match too).
On Valentine’s day, Lisa offered Nine and Twelve some odd-looking chocolate. What were once heart shapes had melted into squares and circles and looked more like Mr. Turtles. However, the chocolate was good (if a little bit too sweet for Twelve’s taste). Despite her efforts, Lisa refused to reveal whether it was giri-choco (obligation chocolate given to friends and family) or honmei-choco (chocolate given to the people one has a romantic interest in). Twelve set on a quest to find out.
On White’s day, the boys went all out, showering Lisa with white and yellow clothing, ice cream, volumes of her current fave manga, nail polish, jewels, make-up and most importantly: chocolate.
Lisa applies the nail polish Nine and Twelve bought her out of respect, but the boys quickly figure out something bugs her when she’s constantly chipping away at the polish. She tells them about her experience with Five and they don’t push the issue. (Oddly enough, Lisa asks Twelve to put the nail polish a few weeks later and she preserves it preciously for a few days).
Despite the fact they all have their own room, Lisa still sometimes falls asleep on the couch, and all Twelve and Nine do is plop a mattress in the living room and sleep there.
Nine still has recurring nightmares and headaches, especially when stressed out or anxious, but these are less and less frequent.
In the beginning, Nine has a bit of a hard time adjusting to living with Lisa. Twelve is no one new, but he doesn’t know how to act with Lisa: he had been previously so focused on his own plan that he hardly noticed her. Now that she stole an important part of Twelve’s heart and that she was living with them, it’s awkward for Nine to gradually open up to her. Eventually, he succeeds, with a lot of prodding on Twelve’s part and a lot of understanding from Lisa. It’s a long patience-thinning and time-grueling process, but with so much less pressure on his shoulders (as his and Twelve’s mission was finally accomplished), Nine takes upon himself the new task of befriending Lisa anf getting used to living with her.
Lisa’s phone background is a picture of the three of them. Idem for Twelve and, after being harrassed for days, Nine.
Twelve loves messaging Lisa and Nine with many, many, maaaaaany short random texts. He sends his message in short bursts (like: hiiiii/ how are you?/i’m on the roof/the view’s pretty amazing there). He’s a slut for emoticons too. On the other hand, Lisa and Nine like to make one long, big message to answer (kinda like I’m doing right now, ahha)
Lisa secretly buys a kururin doll for her bedroom, because she’s been influenced by Twelve and because she admits that they look kinda cute. Twelve finds out and never lets her live it down until Nine intervenes.
When they’re feeling particularly content, Twelve and Nine tell Lisa about their childhood and the Settlement (mostly about the puzzles they were asked to solve. They conveniently leave out the vaccination and drugs and tests and other creepy stuff).
Lisa hyped for an up-coming show is the cutest thing Twelve’s ever seen.
Lisa is a cat person, Twelve is a dog person, Nine is a “get this living animal the fck out of my house” person. The former two are still in the middle of negotiating for a cat, or at the very least, a bird.
Twelve is the kind of person who changes channels every ten seconds, so Lisa or Nine have to wrestle the remote away from him if they want to watch a show from beginning to end without interruptions. Ads are “let’s change the channel” or “let’s take a snack” time.
Lisa dreams of being a writer or working with children. Twelve and Nine wholeheartedly approve.
The three rarely fight, but when they do, it’s like an explosion. The three then leave and sulk/brood in their own corner. After a few hours, they start interacting with each other again, but they’re silent. By the evening, or the next morning, they’re back to speaking to each other. No apologies are needed.
When it’s only 2 out of the 3 who fight, the last person goes to comfort the one who looks most upset and lets the two vent out their frustration. That person then tries to act as peace-maker or mood reliever until the other two reconciliate.
Sometimes, Nine takes Lisa out to rile Twelve up. In retaliation, Twelve takes Lisa out when they come back or the following day if it’s too late. To make sure no one feels left out, Lisa takes both Nine and Twelve out herself. Her treat.
It takes many, many tries until Lisa successfully bakes any kind of pastry, much less cake. It warms her heart when Twelve and Nine try the results every single time, no matter bad how the food looks. They’re also very blunt and to-the-point with their criticism, so she learns quickly about her cooking’s shortcomings, and she improves greatly as a result.
Twelve sometimes buys strawberry-flavored pocky and waves it in front of Lisa, telling her how much better it tastes when not in a curry. Lisa still pouts at the memory of her adding pocky to a curry and at Twelve’s blatant teasing.
It doesn’t matter how long they have until it all ends: Lisa, Twelve, and Nine will cherish each moment they can spend together and each memory as well.
3. Which character do you find cutest?
Kururin. There isn’t enough Kururin love in the world:
Look at them! They’re ball of condensed pink fluff! And their antennae are so cute
(I wanna tug them)
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
(If we’re talking about humans, then Lisa! She’s just the most adorable sinnamon roll, and Atsumi Tanezaki totally kills it with the cuteness. She sounds vulnerable at first (like during the bike scene of episode 4), but then she sounds more confident, especially when she’s cooking (“Then, the curry needs to simmer!”)
She sounds so happy when she says “welcome home” :3 But this one scene…
_
…right here killed me. She sounds so insecure and she’s totally taken the wrong idea bout what Nine’s “Absolutely not” referred to (not your cooking, silly precious Lisa!)
ヽ(´▽`)/
ZNT + HP
So yesterday I was telling Missginevra how I have a ZNT/HP AU that’s been sitting in my drafts for forever (it’s a random little thing with no real plot) and so she asked me what my headcanons for the houses of each ZNT character were. I decided to make a post to explain my choices since yesterday was AU day and I didn’t manage to post my Magical Alternate Universe fic. So here goes. To be honest, when I started writing my idea for the HP AU (which came from a very random scene from Deathly Hallows) I didn’t even give much thought to the houses and their attributes, they just came to me as I started writing. You know when you’re so certain of something that you don’t even second-guess it?
Twelve // Gryffindor - Twelve just screams Gryffindor to me. He can be such a showoff (especially at the beginning), and so very reckless. But he’s also extremely brave. He made some very difficult decisions and mostly let his heart decide his next move every time. Daring, chivalrous, and corageous are definite Twelve traits. He doesn’t always make the best or safest decisions but he’s true to himself, and to what his instincts and heart dictate. He will put his loved ones first before any cause, and stand by his choices until the very end. Lisa // Hufflepuff - I am soooo fond of Hufflepuff. I see it as the house of the pure cinnamon rolls that must be protected at all costs but that can definitely pull through on their own just fine if they must. Always underestimated but definitely a force to be reckoned with when you least expect it. Maybe that’s why my mind immediately assigned the house to Lisa. She gives, and gives, and gives some more. She avoids conflict when possible but stands up for what she believes is right. She has such emotional strength and she never gives up. She’s a hard worker to the core (remember her trying to help on episode 6/7 even when she was so out of her depth? and her attempt to cook a second time even after her disastrous first results? The girl doesn’t give up.). Lisa is loyal, forgiving, and so very caring. She doesn’t hold grudges and she genuinely just wants everyone to be happy. Plus, and this really is just a *plus*, yellow robes <3. Nine // Ravenclaw - Nine has such a flexible mind. What I respected the most about Nine was that no matter how many obstacles were presented to him and how sometimes his plans had to change at the very last minute, he always managed to have a plan B under his sleeve, even when it was at the spur of the moment and under extreme emotional stress. (Ep. 7, for example, when Twelve insisted they save Lisa and it literally took Nine less than seven seconds to come up with a whole new plan, involving Shibazaki). Maybe he’s not as free-spirited as a lot of Ravenclaws but he definitely fits this house the most. Individualty, Wisdom, Intelligence. All evident traits in Nine. Five // Slytherin- Now, you might think I chose this house for Five because she’s the “antagonist” and can come off as “evil”. But I swear that wasn’t it. I have a lot of respect for Slytherin and hated how in the film they were all sent to the dungeons instead of giving them the option to fight. I loathe how Slytherins can be so misunderstood when really they are just very complex people. And that’s mostly what made me think of Five for this house. She’s so competitive, so driven to be the best, which is an excellent attribute if all that drive is chanelled correctly. She wasn’t inherently bad, she was just raised under circumstances that not even the Sphinx duo could fully comprehend, as they escaped the grasp of Athena and the government at a still very young age. Slytherins are also characterized by their traditionalism, which reminds me of Five and how she was hesitant to escape, deciding, ultimately, to stay behind. I am probably one of the few people who thinks her decision was justified in that all she knew was the institution and no matter what, she probably felt the safest with the people that had raised her until then.
Five was resourceful, cunning and ambitious. She was a natural leader with an excellent mind. A true Slytherin in my books. I feel like there’s always the possibility that another house could suit the characters just as well. You know how most characters, even in the HP universe, have attributes of more than one house? It can never be said they fully belong to one house or the other. But mostly, I think I’ll stick to my first instinct. I’m pretty happy with how I sorted them.
