wasted time on low expectations life is ticking and i am running out the clock there's a world out there but i keep lapping the same block is this all that i wanted, is half way really far enough? push it down, don't talk about it take what's given and never doubt it play it cool, but don't you shiver make some money and be a winner slip into a haze where all my days become the same built my character but now i no longer remain how long to i keep faking? how long do i keep making compromises? repeat that that's what life is, but it all feels like coasting be satisfied but you never get enough be satisfied but it's never good enough be satisfied but you're never good enough

The new issue of RVA Magazine (#28, to be exact) is out now, and in addition to a truly a gorgeous pink cover, it sports an article I wrote about Dazeases, one of the most exciting new artists to emerge from Richmond's music scene in recent memory. Working on this was a genuinely inspiring experience. Dazeases has a true artist's creative drive, and her compass is guided by a powerful sense of self-determination, whether you're looking at her inventive approach to songcraft or her singular performance style. (Case in point: Her performance this Friday will include two venues and a 5-minute guided walk in between. How cool is that?)

I owe Dazeases my thanks, both for the inspiration she radiates and for all her help with the article, and I hope you'll take the time to get to know her a little better by picking up a copy of the magazine or by reading online here.

Here we have yet another Melting Pot Summer In-Session from Richmond artist Dazeases. She chatted a bit about her songwriting, inspiration, and gave a hauntingly beautiful rendition of her latest EP Welcome Back, all about love and heartbreak.

This session was a perfect punctuation to a really fantastic summer of welcoming rad artists into the studio. Getting to know them and their music was as awesome as sitting right in front of them as they performed. Every episode was like a private show I’ve been so happy to bring to the public.
