Interview with DAZED: KOREA 2017:
Soo is CREEP’s hidden gem who is finally letting her light shine. With a successful solo debut, many fans are curious as to what the idol will be doing next.
DAZED: Compared to your fellow members, you have fewer schedules. So we really hope that through this ‘DAZED’ photo shoot, your fan will feel pleasure. Also be thankful.
S: I’ve always wanted to try something like this, more fun and still the Creep style. Dazed was a lot of fun to shoot since they gave me a lot of creative freedom so there was no pressure to be completely perfect. DAZED: A number of opportunities for Soo in a photo shoot are much lesser than we expected. S: For a long time when I debuted again with Creep a lot of people were sending me hate. Since my previous company was no longer around and they think I just left quickly to avoid the mess. So when we would do group interviews I try to stay hidden in the back so my other members don’t get hate because of me.
DAZED: Since when you accepted these jobs? S: When I debuted as a solo artist, my members were there a lot for me and helped me gain a lot of confidence I would need to do this kind of stuff on my own. DAZED: When your name comes up now, a lot of people cheer for you. This must make it harder for when you plan on coming out with something on your own, right?
S: Obviously I want to try my best each time I release something. I also want to show a new side to myself each time so there will be times it’s not received with as much love, but that’s okay. DAZED: If there is an opportunity for your solo schedule, what would be the concept? S: I’m actually finishing up on a project that I’ve been working on since I came out with my last album. A lot of the final product are things that other’s were writing since before my last album so the process went a lot quicker this time. DAZED: Once I saw you in an interview, stating “I didn’t know that natural is prettier in the past time, even if doing the hair, it is also a lot” with this kind of response, it means that you don’t mind your appearance? S: As a comparison to the past years, yes, obviously, no matter in what pictures, I always hope to output gorgeously. However to the fans, they take thousand of photos of us, and you can’t expect all to be gorgeously beautify, having eyes closed halfway with exasperated expressions, I have to bet there are lots! No matter how much I wish, I can’t expect all of my photos turn out perfectly pretty, recently I decided to want to be someone accepting the reality, someone who is open-minded. DAZED: CREEP recently began airing their own show where you guys are able to show fans how much different you are at home. In the second episode you had apparently locked yourself in your room, why did you do that? S: We are family and sometimes families fight. I’m the youngest and sometimes I’m not the easiest to get a long with since I can be a brat with my unnies. I usually just take a nap and when I come out everything is fine and we’re all getting along. DAZED: 'Easy-going’ 'smart’ 'childish’ 'adventurous'… These are what immediately come to our mind when we are thinking about Soo. What kind adjectives do you want to be called?
S: I prefer a person with a twist. People think that I am adorable and own a bright personality, but I’m not that hyper. Except if it’s a fun situation, else, there aren’t any purposes for getting hyper. While I enjoying doing my nails or dancing in the studio for hours, my twist is that I don’t know how to be how I am on stage unless I am on stage. I am more or less a big kid. I easily get embarrassed if I try any tricks I do on stage, off.
DAZED: From your own trainee experiences, you got up to this position by probably either complimenting or patting yourself or ended up in scolding yourself. Has Soo changed during that long duration?
S: Obviously! When it comes to serious working, I become trusting. I feel like I’m becoming simpler to the point I can actually feel myself. In the past years, I was really sensitive when the singing sound or monitoring didn’t turn out well on the stage/performance. So I ended getting mad, but I have understood the limitations and started to acknowledge them. While it’s textbook talk time, I become relaxed in my mind and mumbling 'I will do it better next time.’
DAZED: What do you wish for fans to look forward to in 2017?
S: Keep your eyes out for everything CREEP. We want this year to be about our fans and the support they give us.
