Breaking the News || Micah & Lo
The time had come. He had gotten permission from Carter. She’d told him to wait and he had, but now the waiting was over. It had been hard. Not saying anything. He knew Lo must suspect something. He hadn’t exactly been himself. He’d kept himself busy, not going home until as late as he possibly could and leaving for work early. And when he had been around her, he’d been quiet, barely able to look her in the eye.
But now it had finally come. The time to tell her about Alex. Micah entered the apartment they shared. Without a word, he approached Lo and pulled her into a hug. It felt so good just to hold her. He hated what he had to do, but it was either tell her himself or let her find out some other way. Still holding her, he said, “I have something to tell you. It’s...bad. It’s about Alex...I was wrong. You...you weren’t overreacting.” He swallowed. Unable to look her in the face, he rested his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes. “I’m...I’m so sorry, Lo. He’s...he’s dead.”
