Funny little dbd lore progression tidbit I noticed, and it’s the “reason” why survivors are there in the first place.
In the beginning, the first survivors released all had stuff like “they disappeared without a trace and no one could find them” or there’s rumors they like, got lost in the woods and died (Meg, Dwight, Jake). It’s all stuff against the survivor’s will, they end up there whether they want to or not.
But then, with new survivors you got reasons like “my best friend vanished and I heard her voice coming from a cool spooky place so I’m going to go find her” (Sable), “I’m an EMT and I heard someone calling for help, it’s my duty to help so I’m going in” (Orela), “I’m looking for a guy who vanished and this fog in front of me fits the exact description of the parameters of his disappearance, investigating will help me be a better attorney” (Shane).
I just think it’s funny that the entity found new ways to get people into the fog, twisting someone’s willingness probably nets more of that good emotional turmoil she likes than just outright kidnapping them.
Obviously it’s not every new survivor, iirc Vee had the usual “disappeared one day for no reason” story, but I think it’s neat how the entity has a preference nowadays lol
