And another quick post today, Art October prompt Snowball (the android polar bear) in a pumpkin hat 🎃
this might have already been figured out but I'm slow
I just realised that their is a possibility the YK in Alice’s model number could stand for young kid
kind of like how the android polar bears model number is URS12
and it is speculated that it is a reference to ursa the Latin name for bear
Android animals, we should talk about them...
During the events of the game we see real live animals and also “android ones” [-now I must admit this was on my list but “Mwolf0Epsilon” beat me to it, lol-]. ~ The most noticeable android animal in the game is the polar bear on Zlatko’s old mansion that we get to interact with.
*[also notice that (maybe for fur or other purposes), the URS12 has a layer of “”real skin”” (much like T-800 terminators), now... we know ‘regular human androids’ have this “liquid memory” that can form their skin and hair, so I’m not sure as to “why” Cyberlife will give the animals a different type of “skin” than humanoid androids, but maybe it’s either cheaper or more convenient]
But watching carefully the canon universe we notice even a magazine that covers the topic. And yes, is not only “polar bears” being androids but a wide range of animals. Including, apparently, even lions (you can see the blue circle on the lion head), turtles, mountain gorillas, African elephants, and "several other species of tiger (as pointed out in the magazine)...
Now we also see domestic Cyberlife android animals (such as the birds on Carl’s house)...
And, to be noticed, Carl seems to have several stuffed animals at his house too (most likely the ones on his room, this might be a wink to “The Taxidermist” episode on “Heavy Rain”, another interactive drama by writer and director David Cage)
And also has “a Giraffe” on the living room (unknown if it’s an android offline or another taxidermy work but since Carl has a “zebra skin” as a carpet... I’m assuming this is was a real giraffe).
And a skeleton on the roof... (presumably a replica of an extinct marine reptile like a Mosasaur).
But that’s as far as we get to see. - Just like Blade Runner (movie, 1982), cybernetic animals might be not only on Zoos but also at domestic houses. - We’re sure guys like Hank will rather a good old real dog like Sumo...
And Rupert seems caring about pigeons... (that are alive, and not androids)
And from all the fish on the tank where Connor saves the “Dwarf Gourami” (here in my country this fish is known as “Colisa Lalia”), it seems to be real fishes in there, not “androids”.
I had aquariums for decades, still do (and I worked for stores), I tend to observe carefully every fish on every game. - This is a community tropical water aquarium. - As it should be, I can see a couple “Neon Tetra” (small, they usually escape the aggression of other fishes in larger groups),
a SINGLE male Betta Splendens (this are “fighting fishes” from Thai, you can’t have more than one male or they fight until one kills the other), several FEMALE Betta (the female is a bit territorial but won’t usually attack other females),
and, of course, a couple Dwarf Gouramis, the bigger one that Connor saves and a smaller one already on the tank. - Fun fact, male and female Betta and Gouramis are from the fish family of “Anabantoidei” (they poses a labyrinth organ), and they can live outside the water for longer periods of time, as long as they’re wet. So even if Connor doesn’t “save the fish”, likely, giving the amount of water on the floor, that fish can stay alive for hours there (unless someone steps on... it that is).
So yeah, android animals are a thing, canonically speaking. There is also real animals, but android animals prove easier to take care, plus, they don’t die or suffer.
Now, there is no canon proof that Cyberlife went “Jurassic Park” with it.
There is absolutely no canon reference about Cyberlife creating “android dinosaurs” (although for fu*k sakes I’ll love to pet an android raptor and you just know it). - So canonically this is NOT a thing. - Having said this, after the revolution (whatever happens), Cyberlife might continue on business thanks to the production of extinct or endangered animals, and this could be a really lucrative business too... maybe not as lucrative as making “human androids”, but will give them the chance to survive as a enterprise per se’.
So you guys, will you have a robotic android pet at home?, will you prefer to see an “android lion” on the zoo?, or you’re going for the real deal “or nothing”..?
Let me know what you think!
He was like a brother to me
summary: After Kara, Alice and Luther escaped Zlatko’s mansion, neither of the girls felt guilty for deactivating the android in the bathroom. Unlike them- Luther did.
The bathtub he was lying in was filled with his own blue blood. The lower half of his body was gone as if it didn’t exist. His heart was visible to everyone who could walk into the bathroom, and yet he was still alive.
Poor Jean has been through a lot. He could bearly remember his own past. He has been kidnapped, tortured, broken, mind slaved... he began to lose hope.
His only friends at the mansion were the bear, who’s now lying in her cage waiting to be released, a bunch of empty vodka bottles and Luther, who was forced to help the man who promised them freedom and lied to them in his experiences on other deviants.
In his free time, Luther would come to the bathroom and chat with Jean, talking about the pain and the despair. Jean felt safe around him, like a child being protected by his older brother. Like a baby in his mother’s arms. He was like a family to him. He was the mother, the father, the siblings... he cared.
Luther also saw the broken one as his sibling. He loved hanging out with him and felt sorry for his pain as if it was his fault.
One day, Kara and Alice showed up. The android who wanted to become a mother, and a child who wanted one for herself. The two fools who believed that this Zlatko man would give them freedom. The two of them impressed Luther, but Jean was already mind broken. “We have to obey the master!” he repeated over and over again.
Luther’s job was to watch the little girl as Kara was put in the lab in order to erase her memories. He had to stand next to the room where Alice was locked in and wait for Zlatko’s orders. A few minutes past and Luther heard Jean talking. “He’s probably talking to himself again.” Luther thought. Then it was silent.
“Luther! Bring me the girl!” Zlatko yelled from his workshop. Luther opened the door of the room where Alice’s supposed to be...and she was gone. He told it to his “master” and he said in return that they must look for the two girls in every room.
As the walked into the bathroom, Luther couldn’t believe what he saw. Jean was lying in the bathtub quietly. His heart was outside of the bathtub. His friend was deactivated. If Zlatko didn’t give him the order to look for the two girls, he would’ve cried, trying to bring Jean back in every way possible, but there was no time. He tried to think about the good side- at least Jean doesn’t feel pain anymore. At least he’s free. But Luther’s pain and sadness grew bigger and bigger.
The smell of smoke began to fill the house. they must’ve started a fire. After Zlatko and Luther finally saw the girls running over to the back door, they began chasing after them. Zlatko carried his shotgun, trying to shoot the two girls without any success.
It was raining outside. The little girl suddenly slipped over the mud as the android ran over to help her. This was Zlatko’s chance to finally stop them. For Luther it felt...wrong. He HAD to stop him. He finally decided to set free, as he stood between them, grabbing the gun from Zlatko’s hand and aiming at him. He saw Zlatko’s other androids coming over, finally having their chance to revenge. beginning to hit and scratch Zlatko as he’s trying to convince them that he is the master until the last blood drop came out of his body.
As Luther dropped the gun, he asked the two girls if he can join them and they agreed. Although he was happy to join the two on their adventure to freedom, he knew that they are the reason that Jean is gone. They walked away as they watched the other androids, with the bear among them, running away from the burning house with Jean inside of it. The only thing that was in Luther's head at that moment was the fact that he didn’t have the time to say goodbye. Yet he had one thing to remember him. One thing that even Jean himself didn’t know that Luther has it- His lost memories.
---
The three of them finally made it across the border to Canada. They lived with Rose’s brother for a while, and after they got enough money to buy their own house they moved out. Kara and Luther grew closer and closer and fell in love. He got along with Alice pretty well and treated her like his daughter. They were like a happy family. And yet, he couldn’t stop thinking about poor Jean. He didn’t want to get into the simulation of sleep because he feared the nightmares that told him that Jean’s probably mad at him. Kara slowly began to notice that. She worried about him because he’s a part of their family after all.
One night she laid awake, looking at his worried face for a few minutes until he realized that she’s awake.
“Kara?” he asked. “Aren’t you sleeping?”
“I should ask you the same question,” she said. “Even though we’re free, you don’t seem to be completely calm.”
She cupped his cheek with her hand, looking into his eyes.
“Is something wrong?” she asked.
Luther decided to finally tell her. He took a deep breath.
“Remember that android in the bathtub at Zlatko’s mansion?” he asked her. “The one you deactivated?”
Kara’s face went from worried to shooked. The tone he said it was serious.
“Yes,” she said. “I do.”
“Well... He was a close friend of mine.” Luther said. “In my free time, I used to come over to the bathroom and talk to him about everything. He was like a brother to me.”
“Luther,” Kara looked at him in sadness. “I’m so sorry... I didn’t know that-”
“It’s okay.” He said. “I know you had good intentions. You wanted to save Alice, after all. It’s just... I have something that belongs to him... but... he didn’t know I have it.”
“What is it?” she asked.
“Whenever Zlatko erased someone’s memories, he’d download them on his computer,” Luther said, pulling a disc-on-key out of his pocket.
“Are those...?” she asked.
“Yes,” Luther said. “I have the memories he lost.”
“Than what’s the problem?” she asked.
“I don’t know how he would’ve reacted if he knew that I have them,” Luther said.
Kara gave him a soft smile and kissed him on his forehead.
“He would’ve been thankful,” she said. “He’d be happy for you to tell the story he has forgotten. That you’d be able to remember him in his happier days.”
Luther smiled, pulling her closer.
“Thank you, Kara.” He said.
“You’re welcome,” she said.
They shared a soft kiss and fell asleep.
----
A year went by when Kara and Luther decided to “adopt” another android kid. Alice always wanted a little sibling, so she was happy with the decision.
They went into the orphanage house for android kids. As they looked at the children, one of them caught Luther’s eyes. The kid’s model looked a lot like Jean. He played with a teddy bear and sang it the song that his friend used to sing to himself back at the mansion- “Rockabye baby”. Kara caught Luther’s look and smiled. The two of them went over to him and sat next to him.
“What’s the name of the teddy bear?” Kara asked.
“Emilia.” he answered, smiling. The same sweet smile Jean used to have whenever the bear lied next to him, allowing him to pet her.
"Do you know that I had a pet bear once?” Luther said, and the kid’s eyes let up.
“Really?” he asked in excitement. “How big was it?”
“She was huge,” Luther said. “And fat. She loved to eat.”
The kid laughed.
“What’s your name?” Kara asked the kid.
“My name?” he asked in return.
“You don’t have a name?” She asked.
“No... Whoever adopts me suppose to give me one.” He said.
“What about Jean?” Luther said with a smile. “After your uncle.”
The kid was surprised. He ran over to the two and hugged them.
“Jean...” He said. “I like that name!”
After the adoption papers were signed, Little Jean was going to his new house with his new parents (and Emilia, of course.).
---
“Hey, dad?” Jean came to Luther one day. “You said that Jean was the name of my uncle, right?”
“Yes.” Luther said.
“What was he like?” Jean asked him.
Luther took the disc-on-key out of his pocket.
“Connect it to yourself,” Luther said. “Those are his happy memories.”
Jean took the disc-on-key and connected it to himself, staring at the air as the memories are playing.
After a few minutes, he took out the disc-on-key and looked at Luther.
“He was a babysitter at one family...” Jean began telling him what he saw. “And he looked happy, but then a better model came, so he escaped. He came into a mansion, and then an old weird man took him to his basement... and he began screaming... and that’s where it ended.”
He held Emilia tighter.
“What happened to him afterward, dad?” he asked Luther.
“The old man erased his memories.’ Luther said. “He did some terrible things to poor Jean, but... He’s free now.”
“Did he died?” Little Jean asked.
“Yes.” Luther responded. “There was a fire at the mansion.”
He didn’t tell him that Kara deactivated him before the fire. Maybe in a few more years, he’d tell him that.
“Did the bear escaped?” Jean asked.
Luther smiled.
“Yes. The bear made it.” he said. “Your mother released her from her cage.”
“Yay! The bear lived!” Jean said and hugged Luther.
At least his brother’s memories lived on.
Just think what would happen if Rupert and his pigeons meet the bathroom android (Jean?) and the bear from Zlatko's mansion
You don’t need a master anymore|| DBH fanfiction
The FBI agents searched in each house in Detroit for androids. It didn’t matter to them if they were deviants or no, the revolution became dangerous and no android could be trusted at this time. As they came into the mansion that was once the property of Zlatko Andronikov, they found one in the bathroom. The lower half of his body, along with his left arm, was gone. His mechanical heart was beating slowly out of a hole in his chest and The bathtub itself was filled with his own blue blood.
“He’s going to die soon anyway.” Said one of the agents. “And he’s not in a good shape to be recycled or to sent him back to Cyberlife.”
“Look at this pathetic thing.” Said the other one. “I wonder how long he’s stuck here.”
“I bet he’s not even Zlatko’s.” said a third agent. “Probably thought that if he’d come here his life would get better. Now look at him.”
He threw a punch to the android’s face.
“He can’t even defend himself!” he laughed.
They left the mansion, deciding to let him die slowly.
They didn’t know that even in that shape, Jean was still alive.
His high stress level lowered itself a little bit when the agents left, but he wasn’t calm. The master died, his friends escaped without him, he didn’t know what’s going on outside...
He preferred to be deactivated.
A few days went by and all over Detroit androids were celebrating the revolution's succeeded. The people of Jericho were searching for the androids who hid from the agents and survived.
Jean was lying in the bathtub as always, staring at the ceiling while singing a lullaby for himself, as he felt a familiar furry texture under his hand. He looked at the side and saw one of his older friends, from the days when Zlatko used to torture him- The bear. He pulled her close and hugged her, allowing himself to cry on her fur as she groomed him and licked his hair as if he was her cub. Another android walked into the bathroom. It was a male android, model WB200, with brown eyes and a brown hair that was covered by a grey hat. He wore a baseball cap with patches, and a few pigeons were sitting on his shoulders and his head.
“I think the bear found something!” He says, moving closer to Jean.
They looked at each other for a few seconds.
“Wow, you’ve been through a lot, huh?” the android said to Jean, smiling a little bit to hide the fact that he has no idea how to react.
“You think?” Jean asked sarcastically, still petting the bear.
The other one chuckled before kneeling near the bathtub.
“Let me guess, you’re one of the victims of Zlatko?” he asked. “I’ve heard about this place. Deviants used to go over here to find a better life, only to end up as his puppets.”
Jean looked at him.
“The master... he died...-” He began talking, but the other one cut him off.
“Did you just called the man who did this to you ‘Master’?!” he asked in shock.
“I...uh...I...” Jean tried to think about anything to say, but... he had nothing.
At the beginning of his torture, he tried to break free. He tried to disobey, but whenever he did Zlatko just broke a part of him, yelling at him that he’s a machine and that he has to obey. Slowly his mind began to break.
“That’s okay.” The android said, putting his hand on Jean’s shoulder. “You don’t have to talk about it right now.”
“Okay...” Jean said.
They were silent for a few seconds.
“Was the bear also a part of his experiments?” The other android asked Jean. “You two seem to know each other, so...”
“Yes.” Jean said. “He bought her only to see if animal androids can also be deviants and how can he break them.”
“Poor girl.” the android said, petting the bear. (A/N: Everyone must pet the bear!)
“Are these pigeons real?” Jean said, as one of the pigeons flew from the other android’s shoulder over to Jean head.
“Yeah.” the other one said. “I used to had a lot of them back at the old apartment.”
“I...haven’t seen one in a while.” Jean said, giving it a little smile. “I mean, sometimes they’d land on the window, but...”
The other android got up, gently grabbing Jean’s body.
“Let’s get you out of here.” he said as he put Jean on the bear. “As soon as we’ll get to Jericho we’ll find you some spare parts.”
As they got to Jericho, Jean went to the clinic in order to get some body parts. It was deferent from the days when Zlatko did his experiments. It didn’t hurt. Nobody yelled anything at him. For the first time in a while, he felt safe.
As soon as he got used to his new hand and legs, he went outside, only to see the android who saved him along with the bear. Some of the pigeons were sitting on the bear’s head, but she didn’t seem to care.
“How did you guys managed to fix me?” Jean asked.
“We’ve seen worst cases than yours in Jericho.” The android chuckled, pulling Jean into a hug.
“I... never really got your name,” Jean said. “Or introduced myself. I’m Jean.”
“Rupert.” the other android responded.
“Thank you, Rupert,” Jean said.
“No problem.” Rupert smiled, returning him the hug.
“I mean, for the first time it wasn’t really painful to move,” Jean said. “after the master did all of these stuff on me, I-”
“Jean,” Rupert said, looking deep into his eyes. “It’s okay. Zlatko’s gone. You’re free. You don’t need a master anymore.”
“But where am I going to live?” Jean said. “I can’t go back to the mansion.”
“I have an apartment nearby,” Rupert said. “I mean, it filled with pigeons right now, but I think that you can live in there for now. And the bear too.”
he petted the bear.
“Come on, now. Let’s get you two home.”
