Gavin looks so stupid.
Connor: You are the worst mistake I have ever made.
Gavin: The worst mistake you've ever made *so far*.
Connor: What could be worse?
Gavin: Just wait until I propose.
Thanks for loving my mental illnesses guys
I do so enjoy channeling them into fics for us 💜🤘🔥
I also added more to that Sauna Test post from yesterday and its on ao3.
Also since its the DBH anniversary stream this weekend im going to post the next chapter of Bring Me Back To Life Again ✌️💙🤩 (its gonna be a convin chapter) on Sunday
enjoying convin not in the borderline abuse of baby twink connor or 'gavin is soft boy actually' way, but in a secret third way where they claw at each other until one is left raw and exposed, where connor confronts gavin directly and shoves his arrogance in his face, where gavin is enticed by someone who challenges him and has to wrangle with how his own humanity can be amplified by someone he considers subhuman
where hank begins to improve again thanks to connor and gavin has no excuse for his animosity, admiration slowly coming back against gavin's will
where drinks turn to barely-remembered nights and gavin can't fathom how an android is the first person he hasn't wanted to kick out in the morning, where connor wishes he could beg gavin to stay because, realistically, there is no stable place for him to go while hank is healing and the rest of jericho's population tries to move past the 'deviant hunter' image
where connor is so overwhelmed by everything shifting in his life that he clings to the consistency of gavin's insults, clings to the feeling of not being tied down by his need to please as he convinces himself he hates gavin enough to say anything to him, even though he knows he's not being treated as well as he should (he feels its a fair trade off for being able to blow off steam)
it's fiery, imperfect, and unhealthy, but slowly they find ways to help each other, and gavin finally comes to terms with his feelings.
(he totally spends a night spewing apologies to a somewhat confused connor)
🥺🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭

Meet Lila (DBH ficlet)
((Posted this little drabble on my twitter at lunch yesterday and thought I’d share it here too haha. Edited to neaten it up a bit before posting here.))
Gavin takes a few days off for a trip, but stops in at work on his way out of town to take care of some paperwork from his last case. The detective brings his pit bull in with him because Gavin Reed may be an asshole to people but he’d die before he left his dog in the car in the summer.
His dog is very well behaved but with the exception of Tina, who gives it a pat on her way out to patrol duty, people avoid the pair. Gavin catches Connor looking at him when he glances up a few minute later and scowls before turning back to his work while his dog sits at his feet with its head planted patiently on his knee.
Gavin is TRYING to get his work done but he keeps getting distracted by Hank and Connor’s hissy, sotto voce conversation going on behind him at the lieutenant’s desk. He can’t make out most of it, but he does catch when Hank loses his patience and says “-just go over and ASK,” followed by an inaudible answer from Connor and an even louder declaration from the lieutenant. “No I won’t go with you! SOME of us have work to do!”
That seems to be the end of it until Connor sidles into Gavin’s field of vision and just stands there, waiting to be noticed. The detective tries to ignore him, but Connor clears his throat, so Gavin gives up and snaps “What?!” as he glares up at the android.
Connor looks distinctly uncomfortable, yet is clearly determined to ask his question if the detectives snappishness wasn’t enough to drive him off or make him respond in kind.
Whatever the man might have guessed the android wanted to ask, it certainly wasn’t: “Detective, would you mind if I pet your dog?”
Gavin just stares for a moment, but with the question asked, all of Connor’s attention is for the pit bull so there’s no doubting if he’d heard correctly. The detective almost says no out of habit just to fuck with the android, but both Connor and his dog are looking at each other so wistfully that he finds himself saying, “Nah, go ahead,” instead.
Connor thanks him and immediately drops to one knee to pet the animal, the warmest smile Gavin’s ever seen on him plastered across his angular features as he runs his hands over the delighted pit bull. “She’s a VERY good girl,” Connor says, though Gavin suspects the statement is mostly for his dog, but he immediately agrees anyways, “Yeah, she is.” After a moment he grudgingly adds, “Her name is Lila.”
Connor’s smile remains in place even once he turns his attention back to Gavin, though he continues petting the dog as he does. “Lila,” he repeats, then looks back down at the dog and says, “I think it suits her.”
Flustered by this unexpected sweet side of the android that he’s never witnessed before, Gavin just hums in reply and tries to pretend he’s focused on the paperwork he ought to have finished five minutes ago instead of the charming way the android’s eyes crinkle at the corners when he smiles.
