The world is cruel. Even after a war birthed through a yearning for peace, fights are still picked, and death still plagues in its wake. Connor hasn’t experienced life too terribly much, and there’s still so many things he doesn’t quite understand. And, unfortunately, he’s been second-hand educated in such a rough, harsh way.
Loss.
Gavin Reed, the work-equivalent of a school bully. And, well, a school-crush at the same time. He wasn’t close, not even distant, but to a certain extent, he was important to Connor. And, to lose that, especially to lose for the first time, was a very hard hit. He couldn’t think. He couldn’t function. Gavin was a stressful man to be around, but he was also very entertaining. Connor may say, even lovely. He loved listening in on his jokes, and his laughter, and his conversations with his friends, and.. Next thing everyone knows, they’re in the rain wearing black.
Connor didn’t go. Gavin wouldn’t want him too.
...The world is cruel. Even after a ceremony birthed through war, fights are still picked, and pain still plagues in its wake. Connor sits in the DPD, reading over the papers for their new-familiar recruit with tears swelling in his eyes. He couldn’t.. How could they-?!... This isn’t real, right?.. They just.. They just replaced him?! They dressed up for a funeral party, then just bring him back when they need a detective?! This can’t be real.. Connor needed to retreat. He needed somewhere to go, he needed to back-off so he could air out. So, this led him outside, specifically to the vehicle he carries keys for. No, he’s not driving, he’s just sitting, and.. Crying.
No one told him ‘til today. Connor. Isn’t. Prepared.
