WARNING: Only sneakerheads will appreciate this story. BLUF: My sneaker purchasing hiatus is over…for now. Sneakers usually release on Saturdays at 10am EST/4am HST, but this one was on a Friday 8am EST/2am HST. A lot of people were likely salty about it because they had work/school that Friday. Rather than risking oversleeping, I stayed up for the 2am release. There were also 4am and 6am releases on some sites. I had multiple tabs setup on multiple devices. After multiple attempts, I got a pair in the cart on Jimmy Jazz. The site was so overwhelmed (probably by bots), however, it never allowed my card to go through. Next, I get a pair in Footaction, Champs & Foot Locker carts. I tried multiple credit/debit cards…nothing worked. Or so I thought! I was falling asleep with my hand on the mouse while waiting on sites to work. Eventually, I took my butt to bed feeling defeated and a little pissed that I wasted my time on a limited release like this. The following Monday, I receive a package in the mail. It actually sat for a few days because I wasn’t expecting a package and I was busy with retirement ceremony stuff. When BJ told me I had a package from Eastbay, I immediately got excited because I figured one of my attempts worked and I just never received the confirmation. I opened the package and realized I accidentally ordered some things I had sitting in a cart for months (at least they were on sale). I started checking my accounts to see which card worked, and noticed a charge from Footaction (but the pkg was from Eastbay). I go to my Footaction account and it says “YOUR ORDER HAS SHIPPED”. Pretty damn cool that I was able to get these limited release sneakers at retail price.
