Why does Drifter like the Beheaded so much? Because the whole situation he finds himself in reads like the romantic erotica books that he's fond of. THAT'S RIGHT. My HC has Drifter be into really tropey booktok-style romance stories that have weird, sexy creatures in them that want to treasure you gently as they [redacted]. But also BH is stacked and really hot but is also taking care of him and it's really nice and despite being such an ass the guy has some good qualities to him too??? Made sense why Drifter caught some feelings.

And yeah getting the stoic guy to laugh is really important too. Despite the pain he's in and the despair he feels, Drifter can always count on his strange boyfriend making him laugh :> Also obvious Chuck Tingle reference is obvious, lol.

Not allllll the lost knowledge Drifter would find as a drifter has to do with history ;3

Guardian doesn't quite know how to feel about this all, but he supports his best friend.

While these were made to express my anguish at the amount of work I had to do during last exam season, I have some fresher news - I recently got and played the Return to Castlevania DLC and though I didn't get to see every biome yet, it's fun! forgive me if I don't comment on anything else but I was blinded by the fact that there's a cat pet in the game now <3

Did you know in some zoos they give therapy dogs to cheetahs since they are such nervous animals? The dogs help keep their stress levels down and make them feel safe.

I headcanon for our driftcells rp that Blu are communal living big cats with really strong family and community ties. It's a survival mechanism. Blu, who snuggled up in big cuddle piles, didn't freeze to death in the night. Blu that traveled in groups were more successful in hunting or could rescue each other if they fell through ice, etc. It's a survival mechanism that made Blu very successful in their homeland of the Northern Realms.

However, it also means that lone Blu will suffer from psychological distress cause they aren't meant to be alone. EVER. Drifter has been alone for years and, as a result, is incredibly anxious and nervous. He sometimes struggles to eat/sleep since it's difficult to feel safe enough to be vulnerable.

Enter the Beheaded, who will aggressively advocate for his partner, take watch shifts so he can sleep, remind him to eat, and provide the deeply needed touch and cuddles. Because of this, Drifter is still very unhealthy, but not as bad as it could have been if it weren't for his partner. Beheaded is not just Drifter's partner but essentially a very protective therapy dog that makes an apex arctic-alpine obligate carnivore feel less afraid of existing.

Also Drifter would only eat the burger patties stacked on top of each other cause yeah, obligate carnivore lol. Delicious!

This song had me in an iron grip and I associate it strongly with Driftcells. So I had to make a sketchy little coming thing about it.

If I had the time and program needed I'd try to make an animatic set to the song. The Cave by Mumford & Sons.

The idea of Drifter trying his best to stay positive and keep going despite Judgement literally choking the life out of him, while Beheaded is helpless to do anything about it, gets to me.

So me and WeiszRabbit had a funny haha thought, wondering how much of the King remains in the Beheaded or if the Beheaded is just an entirely new person altogether due to the lack of memories.

Yeah, Beheaded is still a selfish asshole, but he's starting to change due to a certain cat's influence. He'll never truly be as kind or as selfless as Drifter to other people, but he can at least love someone for real and make choices that help instead of harm.

So wouldn't be funny if parts of the King still exist, buried deep down despite becoming a humunculus, losing memories, becoming a new being entirely. The little bits coming out as intrusive thoughts of taking what's his in toxic possessiveness. Beheaded at this point understood that people would mockingly call him a King back in his world, but didn't really get what he once was and what that actually meant. He sees it as something amusing, but an identity that ultimately takes a backseat to the ADHD level shenanigans that distract him. It's also funny that he asks Drifter to call him his King sometimes, and it makes him feel....pretty great.

But once in a while, something rattles the cage of something buried deep within, and the Beheaded has to deal with thoughts and impulses that don't make sense to him, but can be overwhelming. Just how much of himself is himself, or someone else? He'll have to now deal with this sudden surge of jealousy and possessiveness whenever his Drifter has positive interactions with others, and the confusion at the raw concern, love, and care from said cat that he feels like he doesn't deserve...for some reason.

We love angst in this house yes we do.

Funneh notes. Drifter is smoll cause I like the idea of a little obligate carnivore that can tear your throat out. He also engages in a lot of feline behavior like chin/head bonking, so he has to stand on his tippy toes and Guardian has to bend down a little for a greeting lol. The musical notes are chirping. He can't speak more than a word or two at a time, but can still make natural feline-like noises, so he has a specific chirp for each person that acts like a personalized name/greeting.

These two have more issues than a magazine rack and its fun to rp them trying to sort through it all.
