[July 14, 2017]
One second I’m 11 years old and spending hours online watching videos of The All-American Rejects fantasizing about what I’d say or do if I met them.
Imagine the person you were in 2006 and think about how it compares to the person you are today.
In the blink of an eye, I’m 22 years old at my 4th AAR show. I get 4 picks, one from each member and an extra of Mike’s. Mike himself hands me a setlist immediately after playing because I’d held up a sign that said, “HAPPY ALMOST BIRTHDAY MIKE!” When I met these 2, I couldn’t think of anything to say except “thank you” over and over and over. Their voices were so comforting and they were so kind towards me.
I’m generally not the type to think this way, but with all the good things that have been progressing in my life lately, I can’t help but think that falling into this situation had less to do with luck; it was meant to happen.
If anything, I’m grateful for my little brother and boyfriend for making the whole thing possible. It’s been a few days, but I still feel on top of the world.
