The Cheetah Girls on deck
This movie is hella old.😂
Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook Off Basically Foreshadows High School Musical
So Wiley and i were watching Eddie's Million Dollar Cook Off, cause of the #DCOM100, and we realized something. EMDCO is basically HSM. Well, sorta. -The leads in both movies (Eddie and Troy, respectively) are athletes who end up having a secret passion for something creative. Oh yeah, and they also happen to be the captains/best players on their teams. -EMDCO and HSM2 both star Mark L Taylor (baseball coach and Mr. Fulton). -Eddie and Troy are both the sons of their coach. -Also, neither coach understands their son's passion for something other than sports. -Both movies feature a girl with an affinity for pink who also happen to be antagonists (Bridgett, aka Eddie's competition for the cook off, and Sharpay, aka mean girl/queen bee/head of drama club). -There is a teacher who encourages the protagonist to pursue something different (Mrs. Hadley the home economics teacher and Ms. Darbus the drama teacher). -This may be a thing for most DCOMs, but both movies also have a star from then-current Disney series (Orlando Brown, That's So Raven, and Ashley Tisdale, the Suite Life of Zack and Cody). -There is a sad cafeteria scene in both movies (Eddie being teased for loving to cook and Troy and Gabriella not talking). -The major events happen to be occuring on the same days at the same time (Eddie's cookoff is on the same day during his playoff baseball game while callbacks for Twinkle Town happen at the same time as Troy's championship basketball game as well as Gabriella's Decathlon competition). -Eddie and Troy both have a best friend who is less than thrilled about their new interest. -Baseball is the main sport in EMDCO while baseball is the main sport in HSM2. -Eddie's jersey number is 8, same as Chad's in HSM. -Everyone finding out Eddie is in the cookoff is essentially the same as the whole school seeing Troy's name on the callback list. -The coach dad (spoiler) ultimately becomes supportive of their son (Eddie's dad leaves the game to help his son at the cook off while Troy's dad puts on a Berkley cap as soon as Troy graduates). -(Spoiler) The friends in both movies become supportive of the lead's passion (Eddie's friends make him leave the game to rush to compete in the cook off while the Wildcats not only team up to get Troy and Gabriella to the callbacks but also show up in the auditorium to support them/cheer them on). -(Spoiler) The teams both end up winning their huge games. -Also, neither team ends up needing the captain to win (Eddie's team ends up winning without him, thus showcasing each of their abilities and prove they can be just as good players, and the Wildcats' baseball team in HSM2 wins without Troy ever showing up to join them). -(Spoiler) Eddie does not win the cook off, also losing the college scholarship, while Troy does not earn the scholarship to Julliard in HSM3. Conclusion: EMDCO not only foreshadows happenings in each HSM movie but, few details aside, basically is HSM...just, you know, without the music.
