Everyone who terrifies you is sixty-five percent water. And everyone you love is made of stardust, and I know sometimes you cannot even breathe deeply, and the night sky is no home, and you have cried yourself to sleep enough times that you are down to your last two percent, but nothing is infinite, not even loss. You are made of the sea and the stars, and one day you are going to find yourself again.
nobody said it was easy
no one ever said it would be this hard
1. How old are you? (How old are you mentally?)
‘ Fourteen. I’ll be fifteen in June. ‘ It was annoying, having her birthday after the school year ended - she wanted everyone to make a big deal out of her special day, all the attention on her and her alone. ‘ But if we’re comparing me to the rest of my classmates, I think it’s fairly obvious that I’m much more mature than them. ‘ Or so she liked to think. ‘ They’re all so childish. It’s exhausting to be around them. ‘
2. Do you have any distinguishing marks on your body (a mole, a birthmark, a missing finger, a tattoo, etc.)?
‘ Not really. ‘ Nothing that anyone would notice,a nyway. ‘ I have a birthmark, but it’s nowhere you’re likely to see. ‘ Unless she was naked, anyway ; it sat on the outer edge of her left buttock, usually covered by her underwear. ‘ And it doesn’t really look like anything in particular. But one day... ‘ She’s stared at her brother’s Mark longingly more than once, envious and wanting. One day she’ll have her own, at least if she has anything to say about it.
3. What groups, organizations did you belong to in high school, or what sports did you play?
‘ I’m not really into sports. Or clubs. ‘ And apparently, she’s too young to join the small - but growing - group of Death Eaters offically. It’s unfair, and she’s told Xander so a hundred times, but he hasn’t bothered to listen. ‘ But next year I want to be a Prefect. ‘ And Avery Pucey gets what she wants. Most of the time.
4. How are you doing in school? What is your favorite subject? What is your least favorite?
‘ I’m top of almost all my classes, ‘ she says with a satisfied smile. ‘ And Professor Puffet thinks I’m so far ahead of everyone else in my Charms class that I might be ready to sit the O.W.Ls early for it. No one gets to do that. ‘ Or at least, few enough people that it was noteworthy. She’d do just about anything to achieve that goal. ‘ Herbology is a waste of time. I’m not sure why anyone bothers with it, ‘ she adds with a sigh. ‘ Professor Longbottom’s an idiot. ‘
5. How are your sleeping habits? Do you have any dreams or nightmares that you remember?
Avery shrugged. ‘ Not really. I sleep just fine, most of the time. Except when Mariela is being annoying and snoring. I dream about...normal things, ‘ she continued, shrugging. Her dreams were childish, really - silly little things about boys and kissing and all of that rubbish. Kissing was really nothing to write home about, anyway. And all the boys she knew were idiots.
6. Who important to you has died in your life and how did you cope with their deaths?
‘ No one, really. ‘ Avery shrugged. ‘ My grandparents are all still alive. And other than that, well, I don’t know who else would have. ‘
7. What are your current relationships? And how do they affect you?
‘ Well, I don’t have a boyfriend if that’s what you mean. I’m friends with some of the others in my year, but...well, most of them are so immature, it’s annoying. Calissa’s my best friend, obviously, and she’s older so I can actually stand being around her. And my brother’s friends are - I mean, they’re my friends too. Atalia and Aidan and Zelus and Audelia are all really...cool. And Xander’s my brother and he’s...well. He can be bossy sometimes, and annoying, but I still love him, I suppose. ‘
8. What is the best thing that has happened to you? What is the worst?
‘ Well, I did once fall over in the Great Hall, that was embarrassing, so I’d say that’s the worst. As for the best...I don’t know. There’s been plenty of good things, but nothing amazing. Maybe the best thing to happen to me hasn’t happened yet. But I have a feeling it will, soon. ‘
9. What is the one word that you would use to describe yourself?
‘ Perfect. ‘ That’s obvious, isn’t it?
10. What is the one word that you think others would use to describe you?
Andrew had been assigned prefect duty to help with detention--possibly the worst prefect duty he could do, though he knew it was part of his punishment for attending the party. Sighing, he pushed his way into the trophy room, rag resting over his shoulder as he stepped into the room. It was empty--to be expected as he was a earlier than he normally would’ve been. Pulling the rag from his shoulder, Andrew attempted to start work, only turning around when he heard the door open again. “Greengrass?”
