it would be so much easier to pretend she didn't see it. whatever it was. she wasn't sure if her eyes were deceiving her. if her jealousy was taking over reality and making things look worse than they really were. all she was two people talking - well, and leaning in to whisper into each other’s ears. but it was a party, right? it was loud. maybe they were just catching up. maybe it was just an old friend. but kit felt her inner demons, the ones who made her disbelieve in love in the first place begin to creep up and take over. no RATIONAL thought was left in her mind. all she could see was them, through the watering beginning in the corners of her eyes. walking toward them, no more than ten steps or so ... and they didn’t even see her. didn’t even notice her standing there, with tear filled eyes. “ i uh ... hey? i said i was going to be over by the beer pong table ...” she tried to stay calm, pushing the tears from her eyes as if she was experiencing allergies from the bonfire. “do you guys know each other? i’m kit. their girlfriend.”
