Pain, searing pain was all he had known for years now. Familiars were not built for pain, they were built to teach and serve, but he had grown so jaded now. It still pulled a yell from him, though it was more on instinct than out of necessity. As if his body knew this was the reaction it needed to perform but less so that he needed to release the hot agony that was racing through him.
Eight years, it had been like this for eight years and every year it just seemed to get worse. Dante was not sure how much longer he could take it, especially when his pain was only doubled by something his witch was feeling. Jason. The man that had gotten him into this mess.
He had grown up with him, meeting when they were young and Jason’s powers had developed, earning him the title of familiar as he sought to others needs, in more ways than one. His heart pulled as he felt his witch, who had effectively abandoned him.
Dante was left here, chained in the basement of Jason’s family home, fated to be tortured day after day by his twisted relatives as he was blamed for the others misdeeds. The witch had abandoned them, well in their eyes he died and they took it out on the man bonded to him, but Dante knew the truth. He had known it since that day, which happened after the worst day of his life. That plane crash had changed his life, and not for the better. He had almost drowned in himself after thinking that, wanting it all to end for just such a long time.
But then.. He felt it. Jason in pain. After he died. He had insisted to his family that he was alive, only to get brushed off, pushed down, beaten and bruised.
Its how he had found himself here, a nail file being shoved in his knee as he cried out, head thrown back. Greasy black hair stuck to his forehead, dark circles under his eyes that rested just above hallowed cheek bones. He looked bad to say the least, but thats okay. He had been waiting for this.
The Royle left, leaving the nail file in his leg, and this was his chance. Dante’s dislocated thumb slipped through the cuff, sure they had anit-magicked them, but he doubted they had expected him to try and get out this way, but it had been years of them being too careful he had to do what he could now. While he had a chance.
He pulled the file from his knee, biting his chapped lip to cry and muffle the sounds of suffering. It would bleed more now, but that was a risk he would have to take. He used the sharp edge to try and open the other cuff without having to break a thumb. He wouldn’t start healing until he was out of them and it was such a pain to do.
He scraped open the iron after a while, struggling with the file as it was slick with his blood still. There was a pop and his eyes went wide as the magic flowed back into him. His eyes glowed, showing his true panther side that hadn’t been released in so long. His muscles ached as he straightened to his full height for the first time in a while. Shoulders rolled and his neck cricked as his thumb snapped back into place.
The magic in him was like cocaine to a long recovered addict. He shook just slightly as a grin curled his lips. His magic instantly focused in on his witch and before anyone could notice he disappeared, blinking into the void.
When he reappeared he was straddling a sleeping Jason, his healing hands wrapping around the witches throat. God he looks different, but that didn’t make him hesitate. Danted just pressed down on his throat, anger flaming in his eyes as he was trying to actually choke the life out of the man he once loved.
