I was listening to episode 6 of the @ravingirls and they quoted Noah at the end of chapter 16 where we get the line:
Noah said, "Don't throw it away."
- Stiefvater, The Raven Boys, Ch. 16, p. 169
Which doesn't really make sense or become significant until we find out that it's what he said to Gansey after he died the first time.
Gansey died.
"Goodbye," Noah said. "Don't throw it away."
- Stiefvater, The Raven King, Ch. 65, p. 418
And this reminded me that I, being the oblivious reader than I am, thought that Noah was talking about the dead wasp (that Ronan had just killed) the first time I read The Raven Boys. In other words I thought that Noah was telling Gansey to not throw away the wasp. Which obviously makes no sense and I remember feeling confused as to why Noah would tell him to keep something that could kill him. But there we go, it's because that's not in fact what he meant.
Now that I am enlightened to the true meaning of Noah's words, I really like the parallel and how it hints at Noah experiencing time in circles rather than chronologically.
The problem with being dead was that your stories stopped being lines and started being circles.
