well i tried setting up the code and it doesn't make any columns. i followed your directions you posted in your previous asks.

how to do my tags page

i’m sorry that my past 2 asks (x & x) weren’t the best unless you completely understood coding, so i’m going to just do a full-on tutorial for this. i hope you don’t mind that i post this publicly.

first, i made a page at /tagstheme on my blog, on custom layout. i started by making some really basic css, just coding stuff like the background, text colors, and the categories. putting anything else in the css was unnecessary. in case you’re wondering what it looks like, here’s my css for the page:

you of course want to change this stuff so it matches the main theme on your blog. for example, if your blog has a black background, you’d want to change the background on this page to also be black so that it blends in.

next, i started coding the body. i made the table for the tags:

and then i set up my first column:

i made my first category:

and underneath that category i started linking my tags:

after a few of the categories i decided to make another column, so i ended the first one:

and i just kept repeating these steps (and by these steps, i mean setting up my first column through ending it) until i had 3 columns and all of my tags in place.

i then went back to the customize menu and made another page, this time on standard layout, at /tags.

i hit the html button (x) and put in the following code:

you may need to change the width and height to match your blog. for example, if you have a blog that displays 400px posts, to stop your tags page from looking a little funky, you might want to change

width=”500”

to

width=”400”

plus, i have the height set at 650 because that’s how long my tags page goes on for. if yours isn’t nearly that long, you might have to adjust it so that it doesn’t look weird. (how will it look weird? a scrollbar will appear but there’ll be nothing to scroll down to)

there's two ways you can do it; you can either create a div in your css and do it that way, or you can do it the way i'm currently doing it, all in your html
