For demonstuckvoices and deadendvoices!
JADE HARLEY HAS BEEN CASTED!
Ren will be our new gun-toting explorer!
JOHN EGBERT HAS BEEN CAST!
Zing will be our new wanderer on this journey!
THE ROLE OF JADE WILL BE REOPENED
Sadly we must reopen the role of Jade, please send auditions in as quickly as you can as we need Jade for Episode 3!
We apologise for the lack of updating, a few snags were hit and halted production but we are slowly building back up. We've already sent callbacks to the John and Gamzee VAs.
Please send auditions to [email protected]
Important note on auditioning: Since we already had a Jade in the first two episodes we implore those auditioning to keep in mind that new Jades must sound close to the old one.
The deadline for auditions will be July 5th, 2014 and callbacks will be done soon after. Thank you all who apply.
Dead End now has a roleplay blog!
We're At A Dead End is now up and running, with christofcringlemisha at the helm. It should go without saying that events and many characters will not be canon (though we may very well take ideas from what happens, and we might be working with them to give them tidbits of canon) Consider it another way to have fun between episodes.
Some information on what's going on, and a little celebration dance for being around for a whole year!
Writer Auditions - Revised
We've taken on only one other writer, but we are now open to having more!
For the most part, this means you'll be writing callbacks, as there are currently no more episodes that can be written, but callback scenes have a way of making it into (possible) canon. As things progress (and there are not as many callbacks that need to be written), then most certainly various scenes and chunks of episodes will be assigned to different writers.
There's no schedule for a writer to follow; whenever you can write is when you write. We understand the existence of lives outside of the project.
As a writer, you will be given prompts for different scenes with preference based on your characterization and skill. For example, if you are particularly good at writing Latula's character as well as action scenes, then you'll probably be getting the majority of the Latula prompts with action thrown in.
Perks of being a writer: 1. You get access to all of the currently-written scenes and episodes. 2. You are privy to more plot-sensitive information as needed in order to accurately write, and are able to shape events with suggestions and ideas. 3. You get to hear awesome voices actors speak the lines you write! (This includes callbacks, if you desire)
What do you need to do to become a writer? Well, you need to write a scene, based on one (or more) of the following prompts:
1. Eridan happily feeding fish. Feferi walks in and says she already fed them. He notices one of the fish is sick, and blames her for feeding them too much. He then scoops the fish out and flushes it down the toilet in the bathroom while Feferi protests, crying.
2. Karkat rambling while trying to confess his feelings to Terezi, then trailing off and questioning why she seems distracted. She informs him that there is a zombie underneath the floorboards crawling around. They both stop to listen. They both awkwardly agree to postpone the confessions and get the others to check out under the floor.
3. Caliborn wandering the city streets talking to himself, muttering about how weak is sister is and how strong he is and why he shouldn't have to take care of her. He continues this way a while, continually becoming more angry, and then stops as he hears a noise. He searches around and finds Gamzee in a dumpster. Gamzee greets him and thanks him and starts going on about how he totally saved him because he couldn't get the latch undone on the dumpster, but Caliborn says nothing until eventually he just shuts the dumpster lid on him and places a heavy rock on top of the lid before walking away, with Gamzee's muffled confusion coming from the dumpster.
These are similar to the prompts I would give normal for a scene or scenes. For an example on the style of writing and script, see the script for the first episode. You needn't worry too much about following exact format, if it slows you down.
Finally, email the result to [email protected] with an email titled 'writer audition' and include your tumblr URL, skype name, and the name you wish to be credited under, if you make the cut. Signal boosts are appreciated!
JOHN, TAVROS, EQUIUS, AND GAMZEE ROLES RE-OPENED
While episode 3 shall continue with the current voice actor, Cody is stepping down from the project. As such, auditions for the roles have re-opened! And let me apologize for the lack of updates or progress. The schedule's still being sorted out. IMPORTANT NOTE ON AUDITIONING: As John, Equius, and Tavros have already appeared in the episodes, we heavily implore anyone looking to audition for these roles to base their voice off of Cody's. The deadline will be Sunday 13th of April, and Sunday 20th of April for callbacks. Casting will then happen by Sunday 27th of April, or the role will be reopened. Let's get things running!
