Walking home after work had always made Zoe rather uncomfortable. Living in such close proximity to the Glades, her mother had often warned her to keep an eye on her belongings with the well-known crime rate. Usually, her boss Carly would give her a ride back from Big Belly Burger, Zoe’s home on the other woman’s route to her own apartment, but tonight she’d been caught up and Zoe had reassured her that she’d be fine walking home. Of course, tonight seemed to be the night the world had decided to prove her mother’s tales right, as a figure in a black hoodie sprinted past Zoe, snatching her purse right out of her hands. It took her a brief second to realise what had just happened, but instead of pulling out her cell phone and calling the police, a spike of anger flared through her as she took off after her mugger.
