Robin prides himself on his intellect, as he is a very methodical thinker, as well as a terrific planner. He has poured the majority of his time into his studies and research, which has caused him to become somewhat socially inept. Robin is not physically strong, but his true strength lies in his resilience, and mercy; he's fragile, yet remarkably enduring in the suffering/despair inflicted upon him — his willpower may ocassionally stumble, but it never truly falls. He is a very kind soul with a deep capacity for mercy and compassion, and while this may be misread as naivety, this could not be further from the truth as he employs this actively, and has boundaries.

Robin and his family lived a relatively peaceful life until the Irish Civil War broke out; during which the Baudelaire family sided with the IRA, with Robin working as a combat medic and Wren as a combatant. This political alignment eventually cost the lives of all in the household save for Wren and Robin, and once the war was lost, the two siblings, unprepared to face scrutiny or jail, then fled towards Dublin with intention of immigrating to The Cursed Apple. They laid low, and in due course could afford the fare. Once in the city, Robin began his studies in anthropology and lived with his brother, while trying ( and failing ) multiple times to get funding in order to complete his doctoral thesis. By a stroke of luck, Robin won two plane tickets, which allowed him to embark with Wren on a five year expedition to complete their education.
During this journey, Robin's team ventured down deep into many cave systems, further than any man before them, or so their maps told them … but all of them were deceived. Unbeknownst to the men, their doom awaited them below in the cavern's dark abyss. Deeper they descended until they reached a vast, open chamber where as they stood, each fell to their knees, unable to stand. Robin, though last to enter, was the only one able to regain an upright position, and believing a natural leak of gas was the cause of their weariness, he helped his fellows walk to a nearby grotto where they regained movement and clarity of mind. Distantly, they heard rock crumble and collapse, and only then did they horrifically discover that the grotto held countless unknown sculptures and artifacts carved far before their time, each one adorned with inscriptions even Robin could not decipher. Quickly, they became desperate to map a new way forward, for they had dug too greedily and now were unable to backtrack.
Over the first year, the lack of supplies and gnawing stomachs soon frayed the crew's minds, triggering madness and illness in each member, especially once the Autumn months began cooling the cave. By mid Winter, only three of the crew remained: Robin, Wren, and Thomas — their ailing guide, who Robin had been tasked with caring for. One day, after long hours of tending to the sick man, Robin finally found some rest — but it did not hold. He awoke with horror, to his face warm and sticky, and his left ear matted with blood. Wren stood over him, the gored youth muttering in tongues whilst sporting the mirrored earring he'd just pierced Robin with.
... Within two days time, Robin was left alone. In his heart he knew that his supplies would not hold him long enough to find an escape. The emergency pistol, missing two shots, and him grew quite friendly … but its bullets offered him no solace. In his starvation, thirst, exhaustion, and the countless desperate attempts to end himself — he found no relief. And soon, once Robin's fuel ran out, the caves reclaimed their natural darkness and plunged him into eternal night. For six years, he wandered throughout the cave's labyrinth, lost in isolation and grief, unable to die, unable to live. In this place, he saw many things of wonder and of terror. Until one day ... someone found him. He hadn't returned on his due day of arrival, and his dearest friend, @admissary, sought out to find him and brought him back home to the Cursed Apple.

Most, if not all, of Robin's past seem to have rotted: his childhood home was destroyed in a fire. His family is entirely deceased, and all mortal acquaintances, save for one, simply can’t recognize or recall him at all.
✧
While not shown in the above portrait, Robin has at least 4 starlike scars across his forehead and temple — these are from failed attempts at taking his life when lost in the cave which he hides using his hair. Additionally not featured above — Robin always dons his brother's black gavroche hat when he goes out.
✧
Most people he meets are unable to remember his full name.
✧
Abel will speak to riddles to Robin often, usually to confuse or spark paranoia. It will answer questions directly for the cost of a memory from Robin's youth.
✧
Robin's footsteps sound more than usual, and the trail leaves behind a small, almost translucent set of steps overlapping his as Abel trails behind him.
✧
Any attempt at telepathy or mind reading feels like putting a mirror in front of a mirror, generating too much interference for the intruder to not be damaged.
✧
Despite looking somewhat sickly, Robin stopped aging when Wren pierced his ear, and is unable to die by normal means. Besides his appearance, he seems unaffected by diseases and rarely shows symptoms, but those who linger around him are sure to become sick eventually. Additionally medical readings regarding him are skewed, and are only able to confirm that the skin on the left side of his neck shows signs of cyanosis where the cursed earring makes contact.
✧
Pictures show his earring burnt out, regardless of how clear the photo is.
✧
Robin often has either a stunned, awkward grin on his face, or will start laughing pathetically, when relaying news of tragedy whether it be personal or not, and his gaze seems blank and unfocused while doing so. It is uncontrollable.
✧
Those Robin comes in prolonged contact with begin having the same reoccurring nightmare as him. Additionally, any contact with him, regardless of how friendly it is, leaves people feeling tired. Direct eye contact of more than a minute also causes others to suffer vertigo/tunnel vision, and holding this contact will cause damage to the user's psyche.
✧
In daylight Robin has relatively impaired vision, but can see near perfect in pitch blackness; his eyes have a sickly green sheen when in dark places.
✧
Unusual numbers of small animals come to die in the vicinity of his apartment.
✧
He has sleep walking episodes, when Abel has partial control over his body, and he will often wake up digging a grave. During these, he also will mumble incoherent things under his breath, often glancing to his left.
✧
Sometimes, he accidentally writes backwards or invertedly.
