Black & White | KG & Elaine
For what could be the first time in his life, Kelly felt at peace. Ironically enough, the peace had come from the lack of life. All he could see was darkness, and he felt calm washing over him. After a moment of stillness, he had come to realize that the darkness was the familiar view of the back of his eyelids, and that the feeling he felt washing over him was actual waves of water. Blinking open his eyes, he found a ridiculously blue sky staring back at him.
A sight such as this would make most people glad to be alive, or at least somewhat happy. Not KG. The sky was far too bright, and it hurt his eyes to look at, making him squint. The birds were chirping far too loudly, and his whole body felt a chilling numbness, like he had fallen asleep in the bath tub. It was only after having that thought that he even realized he felt wet. There was water in his ears, and he could hear his own heartbeat.
Heartbeat… the surgery. KG remembered that the last thing he had done was prepare for a surgery. A surgery for what though… he remembered being perfectly healthy. Why couldn’t he place the thought? Whatever he had gotten a surgery for, he knew this place definitely wasn’t the hospital.
Pushing himself to sit up, KG looked around at the scenery around him. The place looked like it might have belonged on some post card. Everything seemed… fake. This wasn’t the world KG knew. The water was so pure it looked like liquid glass, and the sky was a hideously bright blue. In fact, everything was vibrantly colored, as if a kindergartner had chosen the color palette themselves. KG couldn’t stand it.
The breeze rolled in gently, soft like a lover’s caress, but the lingering water on his skin made him cringe from the cold embrace. Taking a moment to reflect on the thought, KG looked down, seeing that he was as nude as the day he had been born. The crystal clear water didn’t help him maintain any privacy either for that matter. “Fuck.” He cursed under his breath, shivering as his wet hair dripped water down his spine.
He vaguely remembered being told about his second chance at life, and about a partner, but he was only now coming to terms with the fact that he had somehow died, and that it hadn’t all just been a bad side affect of the anesthetics. Shaking his head to clear off the beads of water dangling from his ragged blonde hair, KG took a moment to steel himself before he stood.
The water splashed around him faintly with the motion, but as soon as he looked down to see the stitches running up his abs, he lost it. He remembered now. It had been a simple procedure. All they had to do was remove one of his kidneys. But instead, the idiotic fuckhead with a PhD got to play Operation with his organs, and now he was dead. “Are you fucking kidding me!?” KG shouted and he stomped and splashed like a child, birds flying off in any direction they could to get away from the angry naked wet man.
As much as he cherished these moments of rage, he rationalized the thought of actually finding clothes to put on instead of continuing to be naked. A good idea on his part. As the birds he had scared off scattered, he noticed a figure on the beach that he hadn't noticed before. As he waded his way out of the water and onto the sand, he squinted his eyes in an effort to see better. It was a woman. Was she dead? Closer inspection proved this to not be true. Still, the beach was a rather weird place to take a nap, especially considering the birds and the waves and such. Not to mention perverts, which he thankfully was not. "Hey-" KG barked at the girl, trying to wake the unconscious woman.
