Our first game is finished!!

NO SPOILERS

Wii release played by James For Dead Space: Extraction I chose to play the original Wii release. I tend to play games the way they first came out so you will see me do this often. From beginning to end I was very happy with this title. It maintained a high level of story, death, gore and intensity that the franchise has become known for. The game even looks great, though the Wii is not an HD console it still holds up well. One of the only gripes I have for this title is the motion controls. Usually an on-rails shooter is really fun to play by pointing at the screen and for the most part this game is. What I found is that shooting in the extremely dark environments, hitting tiny hit-boxes of bosses and killing far away enemies can get frustrating at times. All that being said, I highly recommend this game. It’s not too long, not too hard, has cool extras like motion comics and oh yeah, it’s not very expensive to pick-up and add to your collection.

PS3 (PSN Download) played by Kevin The last time I played a rail shooter was at the arcade when I was a kid! It hadn't dawned on me that these types of games were out there for different consoles. Dead Space: Extraction definitely kept me on my toes. Having no control when and where you move made it that much more suspenseful. It can get a bit challenging aiming the reticle at your target when you have no control of moving your character. A mixture of Dead Space: Extraction being a rail shooter and the challenges with aiming, is definitely the perfect mixture to keep your heart rate up the entire time. Definitely a great change of pace for gaming. If you are planning on playing the Dead Space series, I recommend you play this first, you will not be disappointed!

Our first title for the “game” club!

Dead Space: Extraction is a 2009 rail shooter and prequel to the 2008 video game Dead Space. Extraction takes place before the events of Dead Space and during the same time as the film Dead Space: Downfall.  It is the only game in the series to be released on a Nintendo console. Although initially a Wii exclusive, it was announced during E3 2010 that a port of the game would be included in the PlayStation 3 version of Dead Space 2 Limited Edition, using the PlayStation Move controller.

The game revolves around a group of space colonists from the Aegis VII colony fighting against the infection of Necromorphs created when the Red Marker is removed. Necromorphs are the re-animated, mutated corpses of humans and serve as the major antagonists of the game.
