What exactly is The Blank Slate about? That sounds like something I’d want to read just from the title, but you can never be sure
Pinker starts by addressing three myths about humans and why they are nothing more than that. The myths are: The Blank Slate (everything about humans is determined by culture or the environment; our nature as a species is not inherent), the Noble Savage (hunter-gatherer societies are more peaceful and happier than agricultural and industrialized ones), and the Ghost in the Machine (the mind and body exist independent of one another; your "soul" pilots your body but remains independent).
After that, he points out why the social and ethical concerns some may have about his findings are unfounded, the implications of the findings, and how they apply to issues of politics, gender, etc.
