Welcome to the fifth annual celebration of the menacing and the macabre, the dark and the dreadful— this time in reverse!

From killing monsters 🔪 to monsterfucking 👀 , if you can dream it you can be it.

Blood, gore, ghosts, and ghouls.. and, most importantly, the gays. 🌈

This is your excuse to get weird af with it— to release those brainworms 🪱 that have just been itching to crawl out and get paired up with someone equally mad who will be forced to do your bidding.

Summary:

It's 1999 and twenty-year-old Dean Winchester is doing his best to take care of Sam after their parents' deaths two years ago. It was tough at first but, after settling into his job as a closing supervisor at Hunter's Hollow's one grocery store, he's kept his head above water. Mostly.

But, come September, Dean's car stops working for no discernible reason. When he's walking home one night, the forest pitch black, he feels someone— something— breathing down his neck. Terrified, he runs.

When he emerges into the light, a strange man named Castiel approaches him. He's odd, this Castiel, with his piercings, combat boots, battered old trench coat covered in homemade patches, and bright blue eyes that shine golden in a glint of the light. The handsome stranger stirs feelings within Dean best left buried. Dean makes the man leave, certain he will never see that weirdo again.

But the moment in the forest isn't an isolated incident. Dean is in danger. Something out there wants him dead. Or worse.

Good thing Cas is always there to save him.

Why had he gone this way? What a stupid idea. This place was totally different in the dark. There could be— be spiders. Or wild dogs. Or bears. Or— or spiders.

Or monsters. Big, huge monsters with large teeth. Fangs. Fangs just waiting to take a bite of Dean's neck.

Something breathed in his ear.

He yelped, spinning around. He stood with his arms outstretched and hands balled into fists. Stupid automatic response to have. He'd never been in a fight in his life.

His voice bounced off the silent trees and was lost in the wind.

No one would hear him. No one would come to help him. He was on his own.

Dean stood, shaking, his heart hammering, and strained to hear if anyone was nearby.

A skitter. A rustle. A puff of air.

Right fucking behind him.

Dean ran, rocks and leaves and tree roots be damned. He kicked up god-knows-what in the dark. Low hanging branches scraped across his face. His shoulder whacked into a tree as he flew by, hard enough to bruise. But Dean kept going, kept running. His heart pounded in his ears. He couldn't hear the wind or the— the thing behind him over his rapid, laboured breaths.

He didn't look behind him. He didn't let himself think about what was back there. He put one foot in front of the other and prayed he wouldn't stumble and fall.

And, by some miracle, he didn't.

Dean rocketed out of the forest path, launching into the small wooden playground that lay behind the houses on his street. He vaulted over the sandbox and skidded to a stop under the one working floodlight. Collapsing into the grass, Dean curled up into himself. He pulled his knees to his chest, draped his arms over his legs, and hid his face in the space between his forearms.

He was shaking. His breaths came in quick and sharp and his heart pumped hard enough it hurt. He hadn't had this much exercise since gym class.

The thought made him laugh and then he couldn't stop. Huge guffaws escaped his body as he rocked back and forth. Tears blurred his vision. His overtaxed body clenched in pain, but he just couldn't stop.

Wow, he was such a wimp. A little gust of wind— or, like, a squirrel chilling in the branches above him— had spooked him that badly? Shit. Dean was glad no one around was around to see him do all that. Ridiculous.

He shouldn't have convinced Dad to rent him all those horror movies when he turned sixteen. He was jumping at shadows, just like Mom said he would.

Though, he thought in his deepest, darkest hidden place of private thoughts, if a Lost Boy was coming after him he wouldn't have minded it. Especially if said Lost Boy looked like twenty-year-old Kiefer Sutherland.

Dean shoved that thought back into the unacknowledged corner it belonged.

Dean wiped the tears from his eyes, his laughter subsiding. Well, that was embarrassing. He would never think of this moment again. He'd better get home and forget any of this happened.

"Hello?"

Summary:

Dean Winchester is an FBI agent living with his high school sweetheart for the past 16 years, and for the past 5 years he has been investigating a serial killer they nicknamed Angel. He’s thankful he has Castiel to go home to every night.

Castiel Novak has been hiding who he truly is from his boyfriend, Dean, for the past 16 years. Everything he does is for the man who holds the key to his heart, the man who he has been obsessed with since he laid eyes on him.

When Dean discovers the true identity of the man he has been hunting, will he be able to arrest him, or will Castiel succeed in getting Dean to join him with a secret captive that has haunted Dean’s dreams since he was four?

Sneak Peek:

Castiel walks over to his cart of torture devices and he can hear Gordon’s breathing increase as if it’s just now registering the trouble he is in. Castiel could just kill him quickly, but he enjoys watching his victims suffer. Dean is the most important thing in his life and he wants to ensure that anyone who brings him harm suffers for it. Killing them quickly would be a kindness and that is not something they deserve.

He picks up his favorite knife. He decides that instead of many different pain techniques, he will just use one. Death by multiple cuts seems to fit this man. Castiel places the steel blade against Gordon’s cheek and lets it sink in as he makes a downwards cut, the man crying out in pain. He does the same to his other cheek. The cuts are deep enough that the bleeding doesn’t stop and it is still dripping down his face as Castiel rips his shirt from his skin.

With quick, precise motions, he delivers 10 cuts to the man’s chest and stomach, all in different spots. He revels in the noises of pain and the harsh words coming from the man’s mouth as he pleads for Castiel to stop. Castiel takes a step back to enjoy his artwork, the palette of his skin dripping in blood, his face mixed with both tears and blood. 

Castiel replaces the small blade with an even bigger one and Gordon’s eyes go wide when he must sense what is about to happen. Castiel picks up the blade and stabs Gordon at the base of his stomach and pulls the knife into an upstroke as Gordon begins to choke on blood, his guts pouring out of him as Castiel finishes carving into him. Castiel watches him take his last breath and he stuffs his body in the trunk of his car so he can properly dispose of it in the woods a couple miles down the road. 

He changes his clothes before driving home in the off chance that Dean beats him home. It would be super awkward to come home covered in blood and have to explain yourself to the FBI agent you’re living with. Dean isn’t home yet, so Castiel takes a quick shower and takes a seat on the couch with no clothes on. Taking a life always makes him horny, so he’s hoping that Dean is in the mood for a quickie when he is done with work.

Art masterpost: Subduction Story by: @bowlegsandbiceps | Somethingblue42 Art by: @hawkland | sidewinder For the 2025 @deancashorrorfest

Horrorfest season is always one of the best times of the year, and today I get to share the art I made for Somethingblue42's story "Subduction." I loved the premise of the fic right from claims, and had a lot of fun with the challenge of doing these illos for the story.

Creating the banner was honestly a lot more of a challenge than I thought it would be, once I had the concept in mind that I wanted to capture. Getting the perspective, lighting and details on the bunker hallway just right, and then adding the eyes as an overlay was tricky, especially working in traditional media! @bowlegsandbiceps worked together with me on the final layout/text and I think it perfectly captures the vibe of the story.

Here is the bunker art by itself (and without tweaking the lighting/coloration):

And for the eyes, I suppose I'll reveal now that I used a close up shot of Erica Carroll (SPN's Hannah) for a reference as she has the kind of clear, intensely focused, feminine eyes I wanted to capture.

(It also was an excuse to add Hannah to my collection of SPN portrait eyes that I've been building for a while!)

For the main art, this was the first piece I started on and was an idea I had pretty clear from the start.

For a second piece, I wanted to do something more specifically Destiel, so have a sweet kiss scene in the bunker kitchen!
