A Simple Life.
Today I went to a free screening of this wonderful Hong Kong movie. It stars my favourite HK actor, Andy Lau and his real life godmother, Deanie Ip about a master and his nanny/servant. I did not recognize her in the movie, but totally know her from HK.
It is so NOT like me to watch Chinese movies, but I enjoyed the movie a lot for several reasons:
1) Andy Lau 2) It gave me memories of HK, of course 3) I have a very soft spot for elderly Chinese people. I'm not sure why, but not only are they the sweetest people, I've recognized that they are truly very independent and strong. 4) The movie made me cry some tears of sadness and joy (which is always great from a movie!)
It's a heartfelt movie that makes you think of your own family, appreciate them and what you have, and feel grateful of the little things. My fav parts of the movie were seeing how happy Deanie Ip's character was when she received small gestures and gifts from others.
Try to watch it! It has English subtitles! :)
