When we were coming back on the train I waited for a familiar twinge when we stopped at Mahim. But it didn’t come. Sometimes I wonder what was the point of being so careful about getting over it. Getting off social media for a while, deleting numbers, old messages. Making sure you can’t contact them even if you want to, stop looking up what they are doing in the world. Not take anything they do afterwards as a statement about you. I was very good with all of that, Maya. And I got over it also. When you meet them afterwards, you are surprised at how much you don’t know them at all. I find letters at home about things I don’t even remember. Either you hold on to love, or you have this. Bazm e khayal mein tera husn ki shamma jal gayi lol. I don’t honestly know what is better.
