You see but do not observe|| Sherlock and Open

Of course he was going to be invited to this. Sherlock was hardly surprised when he received an invitation. He was becoming more popular by the day, but he knew he had to keep everything steady. Too much popularity meant trouble, just enough was good for business.

Sherlock certainly did not want to bore himself with looking at and observing the blind people at the dance. But when he saw people acting...rather strangely, he began to. And it was after people had drank the champagne...He had to get the word around...

“Listen to me. Don’t drink the champagne, it’s horrible anyways.” Sherlock said, taking their glass out of their hands and dumping the contents out onto the floor without a single care. People were staring, good. Maybe they would all get the signal. “Oh god, please tell me you didn’t already drink it.” He said, clearly annoyed already without even knowing if they had drank it.

Intuition|| Open

Beatrice had had many adventures throughout her life. She had fought pirates, traveled the seas, been transported to another world, and now she was getting to know her parents. But not once throughout her absurd endeavors had she been to a ball, nonetheless something so prestigious and fancy. She felt like a princess in the stories that her uncle would tell her.

But Beatrice was a smart girl. She was gifted with a brilliant intuition, almost like a sixth sense. The fact that she, a girl who only just arrived here and was not working anywhere, was invited to such an event puzzled her, even made her suspicious. She decided that she would use the fact that very few people knew her and her black, sparkly mask that his her face to her advantage when snooping for information.

“Quite the event isn’t it? Everyone who’s a somebody seems to be here. So the question is, who are you?” She asked, oozing charm, her eyes fluttering behind her mask. She had recently found out that she was an excellent actress, she had no problem pretend like she belonged here.

Something in the Water|| Open

John Smith loved parties! He thrived at them, always wanting to be the center of attention. He didn’t have to try very hard, he was just naturally so out there that people tended to look at him oddly anyways. He felt so energetic around so many people, he loved it.

He fluttered about the crowd, and if one didn’t know him, they might of said he started the party, or that he had been to events like this before. Of course he had, but it’s not like John Smith knew that. The Doctor did, but not John Smith...

But as the night crawled on...something didn’t seem right to him. People all around him were looking dazed, confused, some were hysterical. Something deep within him knew that he had to figure this out...there was something in the water...or maybe the champagne. It was the one thing The Doctor hadn’t consumed yet, to his own surprise. Maybe...just maybe..

“Oh! Hallo there! Can I offer you a drink? I heard the champagne is some of the best you can get, and it’s all free!” John said, really trying to sell it, even though he had alterior motives other than just being friendly.

Something There || Open

Belle wasn’t sure why, but the yellow dress she was wearing felt so...nostalgic. There was no meaning behind it...at least she didn’t think so. She had worn yellow plenty of times but...this dress really sparked something deep and emotional in her. Maybe the shopkeeper who sold the dress to her was right...maybe the dress really was made for her...

But she tried not to let it get to her now. Now she just wanted to be a bit more lively. This was the most adventurous, social thing she had done in New York thus far and she was going to make the most of it...and perhaps figure out why she was invited to such a prestigious event in the first place. She circle the champagne in her glass, but didn’t want to take a sip quite yet...

Across the way she saw a person who certainly looked like they belonged here, even if they didn’t. They were dressed to the nines, someone who knew what they were doing when she really didn’t. She was a farm girl, not a fancy socialite like these people. She needed a friend, maybe it was high time she made one.

“Lovely attire! You fit right in here it seems. Frankly I’m not sure how a librarian like myself got here. I was actually wondering if you could tell me what all of this is about?” She asked, her eyes glowing with curious wonder behind her golden mask that just covered her eyes.

Wallflower || Open

It was a wonder that Darcy was as successful as he was. He was still horrible at communication and to most he was probably as interesting as a brick wall. Not to mention he was expected to go to these social events, apparently one that was the biggest of the year. He wasn’t wearing a mask, his pride prevented him from looking absurd. He simply wore a nice, clean, classic black tuxedo, hoping that would be suitable attire for the night. This would be so much easier, if only he had his witty Elizabeth, or his charismatic friend Charles..

But he needed to do something. We’re Elizabeth here she’d tell him to find someone to dance with, or find someone he could talk to about things he knew about. Perhaps he could do both...

“Excuse me, I was wondering if you would care to accompany me in the next dance? Or perhaps I could accommodate you with a drink?” Darcy asked, trying so desperately to be social, yet his demeanor was still so stiff, so reserved.
