Fancy-Free cocktail out of my new Death & Company book. #cocktails #whiskey #rye #christmas #deathandcobook
#shortround vietnamese snacks and drinks tonight! What I call research. I've got to learn somehow. All while reading #deathandcobook #chefsnightoff #lovemycity #pdx (at Portland, Oregon)
Strange Brew. #onecocktailaweek #deathandcobook (at Dannebrogsgade)
Call me sentimental...I'm not a huge wine fan (shame living in California), but I'm fine with wine mixed with gin! #deathandcobook holds the recipe for this Sentimental Journey. Gin, chardonnay and cinnamon bark syrup. Flavors go very well together, never would have thought to put wine with gin on my own. But I'm not very clever.
Martica (Left). Recipe: 1 oz XO brandy (E&J), 1 oz aged rum (Flor de Cana 7), 0.75 oz sweet vermouth (Carpano), 0.75 oz Luxardo maraschino, 1 dash Angostura, stirred and strained into a chilled coupe. Notes: Yet another Death & Co concoction. Subbed brandy for Hine cognac and Flor de Cana for Appleton V/X. So sue me! Very bold Manhattan variation with a lot going on. Sweet Hereafter (Right). Recipe: 2 oz pisco (Capel), 0.5 oz Lillet Blanc, 0.5 oz Dolin Blanc, 1 tsp St. Germain, 1 dash Bittermen's Hopped Grapefruit bitters, stirred and strained into a chilled coupe, no garnish. Notes: I know. I'm addicted to Death & Co. Yet another from this amazing book. Subbed Lillet for Cocchi Americano. Clean, delicious. First ever stirred pisco cocktail, and it didn't disappoint.
Tailspin. Recipe: 1.5 oz gin (Beefeater), 1 oz green Chartreuse, 1 oz sweet vermouth (Carpano), Campari rinse, stirred. Notes: Death & Co. I'm usually one to enjoy strong cocktails, but this guy makes a negroni seem like a daiquiri.
Terrible Love.
Recipe: 1.5 oz mezcal (Del Maguey Vida), 0.75 oz Suze, 0.5 oz St. Germain, 1 dash orange bitters (Regan's), stirred and strained over a rock and garnished with lemon twist.
Notes: Death & Co cocktail book. Supposed to be garnished with grapefruit twist but who has those lying around? Highly recommended. Boozy, smoky, herbal.
Dangerous Liaisons. Recipe: 1.5 oz bourbon, 0.75 oz Dolin blanc, 0.75 oz grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz lemon juice, 0.5 oz honey syrup, shaken and double-strained into a highball, lemon wedge garnish. Notes: Death & Co cocktail book. Really tasty and perfect for an unseasonably warm February in Texas.
