When Kes hasn't released his pheromones after a couple weeks, he starts to think more abstractly. His thought process becomes harder to follow, and is based more on feelings and memories. For example, if someone were to hold up a white card and ask him what color it was, he might respond with something like "Hell." Because as he looks at the card, he gets lost in it, his mind taking him back to white walls and white-hot stabs of electricity. A real hell on earth.
