Death Note FIC Idea
Attention Death Note fic writers, I have a plot idea Watari and Roger are partners in crime and discovered L's talents by him stopping WW3 at age 8, but the twist is that instead of the kid's parents dying naturally. They target gifted kids and murder the parents instead, forcing them into the orphanage so they can mold them into L's successors. The reason is Wammy's inventions aren't making as much money as they usually would. With a genius kid like L sculpted into being a detective, imagine all the money they'd get? They gaslight the fuck out of them to make them think they never even met their parents and whoever wasn’t cracking under the manipulation was put under intense pressure to melt their brain into mush. (Could be a subplot of what happened to A and Beyond) Yes, I know. This is all very dark and doesn't sound much like Watari. However, in the novel... (SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS KEEP SCROLLING)
I'm pretty sure Mello says something like "L was Watari's greatest invention" and also hints that the first generation of kids were merely test subjects and designed to fail. That means both Roger and Wammy didn't care about these children... L included (not talking about LCTW, love that Watari), he was just seen as an invention so grand he had to be copied. (plus his room growing up was literally a padded cell soooo) Now with that out of the way, this makes a lot more sense. It would follow the original plot of the anime and manga - Light is still Kira, L is the Detective trying to execute him, HOWEVER... When Light gives himself amnesia, this is where it all comes into play. As Kira, he had researched about all these parents getting murdered. They never found the culprits, so he pushed it aside until he had a lead. Well. Meeting L and seeing how Watari acts around him... he finally has something to connect it to.
Before he gets his memories back? He's helping L escape the Wammy House manipulation and to help him learn the truth of what really happened and to become Lawliet. Not just L. Break free of the mechanic chains that he was raised in and taught instead how to be a person. How to be human. Boom, that's my story idea. If you couldn't tell, I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort
Imagine the angstttttt
The disbelief, the anger, the accusations, the defending... until finally... he looks and thinks back and realizes that Light is right. Once he's free of the manipulation... can he save the others? Or will Near, Mello and Matt suffer the same fate as past kids?
