DEATH WAS SO FAMILIAR . more amused at the sight of a corpse than shocked or afraid or any number of more normal human emotions . but the girl looked young . perhaps not much younger than herself , but too young to be lying dead in an alleyway . && maybe she only stopped because she saw herself in the dead teen . felt a strange sense of RESPONSIBILITY for the stranger’s death .
her gaze flickered to the street the alley opened into — didn’t see anyone . good . she didn’t need anyone around for this . didn’t need anyone to witness what she was about to do . knelt down beside the slumped - over body — reached out to carefully part bloodless lips , leaning in closer , drawing in a deep breath herself before she’d close her eyes , exhaling a gentle stream of air between the dead girl’s lips — breathing life back into the dead .
it wasn’t difficult . she didn’t seem to have been dead for long — blood clinging to dark hair still glistening under the darkening sunset light . but the wound now began to close , leaving a far more shallow wound in its wake . would sit back as she waited for the other to regain consciousness — gaze once again flickering to the street , reassuring herself that they were , indeed , ALONE .
