DEATHSTENCH // Trepaneringsritualen split picture LP NOW AVAIALBLE.
An unholy alliance of two of the leading cult acts operating in the realm of death industrial, albeit from opposing sides of the spectrum, but bound by an unwavering commitment to all things monolithically dark and oppressive. Two tracks from DEATHSTENCH here, the first an extension of what you’ll find on their 2012 release, Massed in Black Shadow; corrosive and dense waves of delirium inducing emanations, the filth and degradation palpable as it moves in swirling patterns of vile, blackened noise. The second track, aided by the ferocious vocals of Alan Dubin (Khanate), ups the intensity to nail biting levels, starting slow and grainy as a smeared ritual soundscape, before exploding into a virulent display of agony and distress, the vocals slicing through a roaring underbelly of cacophonic doom and gristled sludge. True to form, Trepaneringsritualen is about as bleak and brooding as anything he’s ever done…a ritual invocation of Mímir that plays out as an 18 minute methodical descent into madness, beginning with a passage of distant, ritualistic clangs and elongated vocalizations then drifting into a gaping abyss of drones and deep, escalating pulsations, eventually evolving and ending as a writhing mass of pounding percussion and vocal rasp. Lmtd to 250 copies and presented as a glorious, thick vinyl 12” picture disc with suitably bleak black and white artwork designed by the respective artists.
