debatched replied to your post: YOU ARE A STAR!! I think it’s amazing that you were able to catch up with the orchestra again (I would have totally panicked and frozen up in a situation like that) so mad props to you. I wish I could’ve seen you play!

<33 [hugs you] You're the sweetest, Upasana!  Dude, when it happened, I got this really sick feeling in my stomach... hearing the holes in the music that I was suppose to be filling freaked me out.  Once I caught up with the orch, I was so relieeeeeeved! What sucks is that that big section that I flubbed was one that I had never messed up before in rehearsal.  Soloing sucks for that reason because something that has never happened before in all your practice runs and rehearsals is going to happen during that final performance.

omg, that reminds me!  Our last Soloist, Aleks, who had the endpin of his cello slip out of the ground as he was going into his epic cadenza at the end of his piece.  So, he stopped playing, violently stabbed it back into the ground, and whispered "shoot" before starting to play again.  It was so intense.  I was like dammnnnn son.  The best part is that it actually fit the personality of the piece (this is the first movement) so it almost just added to the performance.

As Rudy explained to me it's how you follow up after your mistakes that reveals your professionalism.

It wouldn't work, it wouldn't work at all. At least there are monkeys out there with their hands for feet but if you had feet for hands you would basically be like a horse
