I feel this image shows how the truth can be manipulated and spread, and how people can pick apart others words to make it sound how they want it to, pushing their own agenda. This is made easier with the internet where false statements can be spread within seconds, showing the "moment of falsehood”.

On Media, cosmetic companies consistently advertise that they have created “new” colour of a product. While there may be a glimpse of truth within their advertisement, it may be overly exaggerated. Their products’ colours may be different from that of precedence;yet, they are only a slight variation from the older versions. In reality, companies have not discovered a completely new colour.
This is parallel to the thesis of Debord, in which completely new ideas or concepts that media advertise turn out to be a lie. Nevertheless, consumers fall into companies’ dramatised advertisements and continue with their spending pattern of purchasing new models. Indeed, if new models are only variations of previous products, then controversy lays within whether they are any “new”.

I feel like this age represents this sections because, the world is clearly dying and yet trump is posting on twitter.he is posting on twitter saying that climate change isn't real, that scientists are ‘manipulated data on global warming’ and that the findings are ‘unreliable’. This for me shows a world turned on its head and a world leaders truth is yet still a lie. It is fake news.

The quote reminds me how the media creates false narrative to influence people's views and opinions. Since the media knows what spectators like to see, spectators tend to believe what it tells despite the fact that the information can sometimes be fake. Gradually, people are used to accepting second-hand information directly, loosing the ability to think critically, to research and to prove. Thus, the pseudo-truth gets stronger and out of control, replacing reality through dissemination. Distinguishing right from wrong seems unimportant in media world, but it definitely has bad effects in the real world.

A monstration is a public performance similar to a demonstration, but intended as creative performance art, often parodying a serious demonstration. It is principally a Russian phenomenon. I think at this example telling a lie is telling the truth, at such event as 1 of May on the streets of Russia - it would be impossible without messing up with words. They're laughing at people who think that to invase to Crimea was an ok thing to do.

I chose this image of President Trump on Fox News to illustrate this quote. The whole fake news thing made me think ‘what is fake news?’ and ‘what is real news?’ and ‘how am I supposed to tell the difference?’. In a country that truly has been turned on its head and an idiotic reality TV host is president, what even is real anymore? Truths such as this makes us doubt whether this is even reality. I think Debord wanted us to question reality and challenge forced doubts such as fake news.
In a world that has really been turned upside down, the true is a moment of the false. I chose this image because I thought most people think that the Social network is a place where false information and images are overflowing. This image is the work of illustrator Vincent Bal and the title is 'social media mirror'. He uploaded this picture with these tags. #happy #sad #truth #fake. It is true that when people post their photos on Facebook or Instagram, they only post happy moments to show others. Because social network is part of the society of spectacle. But no one can tell if the images are true or false. The pictures of happy moment may not be all true, but they can be the truth in falsehood.

I chose this screenshot from The Truman Show as I think it encapsulates this quote effectively. Throughout the movie Truman is diverted and distracted from discovering the ‘truth’ about his reality, thus destroying the fundamental idea that his life and the reality he has lived in up until that point was ‘real’. This is visually represented beautifully in the film and is my favourite scene, when his boat crashes into the sky, what could be more false than the sky above our heads being fake?
