Serious question for any fellow New Orleanians... Or anyone really...
Should I do Decadence? Reasons why I kind of want to - I've been feeling completely isolated from other queers. I almost never meet any anywhere. Reasons why I kind of don't want to - It's overwhelmingly white gay cis men, which I am obviously, but still. It doesn't even pretend to be for anyone else. In fact, local queer women hold their simultaneous Dykadence Fest because none of the Decadence events really cater to them. Also, it's insanely crowded, it's all about drinking and dancing (things I only do around select people), and I'd have to go to and from by crowded unreliable public transport. Plus I have no gay friends to even go with me. The cons seem to obviously outweigh the pros, but every year I feel a little pang of regret for missing it all.
