Kadir tried to keep their eyes down as Gerard lifted their chin, but ended up staring back into the concerned gaze of their alpha. It was bad enough that it had happened, but now Kadir felt like they could barely function between the pain of losing their kids, the headache that had started to pound behind their eyelids, and the sadness that they could see reflected in Gerard’s eyes. “No. You should go home,” they answered quietly. “Only one of us should be stuck here, right?” Kadir tried for a smile, not sure if they’d actually accomplished it or not. “I don’t feel good…” Not at all, and probably wouldn’t for a long time. “I love you too.” They didn’t understand how Gerard still could, not after what they’d done, but it did lessen the sting if only a little bit.
Gerard continued to caress their cheek with his thumb and he planted a soothing kiss on their forehead. He knitted his brows and he shook his head, “I’m not leaving you alone here,” he frowned slightly, not wanting to sound like an ass for wanting to watch over the other but he wanted to be there for Kadir. He wasn’t going to leave them alone and leave them to their thoughts. “I’m staying here. With you.” He reassured the other, a soft sigh leaving his lips. “I know, baby... we’re going to get through this, alright?” The alpha took Kadir’s hands in his and he kissed their knuckles. “The nurses are gonna check on you for a lil’ bit every now and then to make sure you’re okay, I’ll go talk to the doctor to see when we can take you home.” He gently squeezed their hands before he hugged his mate once more. “Let me know if you need anything?”
