I received a mer as a gift from a friend who couldn't handle him anymore. He's pretty rambunctious, despite the fact that the scales that cover the left side of his face don't seem to be in very good condition... I think he flipped me off. Do they know what that means?

Nahhh! Surely not! He probably just saw some rude human do it and he thinks it's a sign of affection!

Ok ok but hear me out- everyone who bought a mer are all of Thomas's friends and they all got him one for his birthday and he's shocked to open five presents of similar beautiful different fish and he's excited and so are they because THEY'RE BACK TOGETHER IT'S A MIRACLE.

They all see one another in their little transit bowls

Logan is so shocked he can't move, his raw and bruised hands lingering at his sides as he looks out between the others

Virgil swims to the glass and stares out in disbelief, shaking with relief as it overwhelms him, along with the fear that this might be some cruel dream

Roman is looking between them all and trying to confirm they're really truly there, trying to swim closer despite the damage he's done to his shoulders and tail

Deceit almost refuses to believe the situation, shrinking back in his bowl and peering around in confusion as the humans laugh about the coincidence of their almost identical gifts

Patton can't stay still, flitting back and forth in his bowl, slapping at the glass and crying happily as he recognizes and confirms the presence of his brothers

Finally, Thomas carefully moves them into their enormous, shared tank and watches as hugs and snuggles are exchanged between the swimmy dudes

The tank is full of colorful gravel and a massive (to them) castle with a series of tunnels that intersect in a single, cozy cove

As they reunite, the birthday party continues, and soon the mermen find their way into the castle

Nestled together in a bundle of intertwined arms and tails, they drift off to sleep inside, to the sound of Thomas and his friends laughing
