A Q&A with Esther Friesner!
What was your favorite book as a teenager?
The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings awakened me to the marvels of epic fantasy, so while I had many favorites (including The Secret Garden), I'll choose these.
What was your very first story about?
My first story--dictated to my mother when I was three--was about a rabbit who went to a barber shop and on the way home defeated an evil witch. To my mother's credit, she wrote it all down without comment or a panic-stricken call to the pediatrician.
What is one question about your books/writing that you wish someone would ask but never has?
"Ms. Friesner, may I purchase the rights to makes Spirit's Princess and Spirit's Chosen into full-length animated films?" (Note: This question preferably should be asked by Miyazaki sensei. I can dream, can't I?)
Come meet Esther Friesner at the 3rd annual Boston Teen Author Festival! Saturday, September 27th from 11am to 4:30pm at the Cambridge Public Library. For more information, check out our website at www.embraceya.weebly.com!
