“INTROSPECCION”
by Decertor
Peruvian painter Daniel Cortez, aka Decertor, found his way to art through the Hip Hop movement of Lima, Peru. Without formal training he pushed himself to learn new muralism techniques and develop his figurative skills, while also using his work to reinterpret pre-Hispanic iconography and incorporate it into his visual language. Context is also important to Decertor and his subject choices. He told Graffuturism "the paint itself has stopped being only a 'painting for the street.' I started to understand it as part of the urban landscape." In the modern urban environment he sees art as returning public spaces to the people. This colorful and intriguing work was done on the side of Wynwood's hip 25rd St. Peruvian–Asian fusion restaurant, GKBistronomie. @decertor @gkbwynwood @wynwoodartsdistrict
