convenience store

While it’s not abnormal to him that a weird abduction incident involving mad scientists would happen to him, Ness still felt dazed and confused. Part of the confusion was probably mostly because his attention wasn’t really there to listen to the scientist, and guilt accompanied the ever-growing feeling of being lost. Not good.
Trying to delay his panic, he scouts around for a nearby store. He needed to call home, quick. Convenience stores and of the like would have a payphone—and just like that, there it was. Sleek doors lined with absurd advertisements for products that wasn’t familiar with him. Not like he was interested. He dashed into the store, and scouted for a phone.
... But wait, what is that? At the corner of his eye, he spotted the magazine aisle. Colorful covers of varying subjects decorated the racks—but, what is that? He edged closer, looked around, slowly repeating the process for a couple inches towards the item of interest. What is the item of interest, you say? Well...
He traced his eyes on a light pink magazine, with a smiling, half-naked, girl on the cover. Ness swallowed. He wasn’t dense, and neither was he ignorant. He knew exactly what it was, it wasn’t anything new to a fifteen year old like him. Wait, was he even allowed to look at these? Stores back at home had age-restricted aisles, did he see one on his way here? No? He’s good, right? Adolescent curiosity flushed his slightly reddened cheeks.
Ness looked around, hoping he wasn’t looking suspicious. But alas, fate was not kind to him; a young man not much older than he was stood nearby him. Actually, the guy looks like he’s looking right at him. Ness quickly looks away. Damn it, this isn’t what I’m here for, he reminds himself. But why wasn’t he moving away?
