I’ve got a gig! Someone had to pull out last min from the queer women’s charity club night/cabaret/idk, so I am folksinging for 15 mins between the spoken word poets and the drag acts lol. Slightly wish I had more notice to make my friends come and also to rehearse but it will be okay!

On the setlist:

1. Comedy song I wrote about being rejected from a job (absolutely my best work, confident to go in with this)

4. Cabaret song about a lesbian seagull that I sing with my wife (it’s a cover, it’s also by MILES my most frequently requested song, very fun)

There’s a version of this where instead of 2 songs in the middle I just do one rather long historical protest song (pros: has a good chorus, good for a feminist crowd, cons: too long, don’t have time to memorise the words). There’s a version where I do my rockabilly christmas blues about the baby Jesus (pro: fun, con: maybe too religious). Possibly accompanied by a silly ukulele one about needing a new job. There’s a version where I do either of those and a melancholy but rather beautiful one about the end of summer and also grief. But I need to decide quick so I can practise them tomorrow!

If I was playing to you lot I’d obviously do my Friar Park one…

Decisions

Meschella's coffee shop was a very popular local hangout. It had all the ambiance of a real home and all the caffeine money could buy, so it was usually packed with customers from open to close. For a long time, Meschella was on her own; working constantly to meet the demands of owning her own business. However, the shop now had several baristas- but they all appeared to be the same person.

At the moment, one of Loki's clones was taking coffee orders while another worked in the back room restocking everything that was running low. The customers didn't know the difference between them, so it was very convenient when either of them needed a break. Unfortunately, it was also extremely difficult to leave the shop until everyone had cleared the area.

The clone everyone referred to as "Needy" stood behind the counter watching the people wander in and out, and wondering if he could sneak out early so he could check on his animals. Perhaps his brother wouldn't mind making drinks for a while...

The people who hate watched this show are just pathetic. How can you be happy with a show being canceled? Why even watch it in the first place? A few of the actors are gonna be unemployed and we all know which one👀

To be honest, I get the hate watching. I hate watch Riverdale still, haha, but like, I throw it on while I'm doing the washing up or bank the episodes and watch it with my bff and a few bottles of wine when she's in town.

What I don't get is flooding the tags or barging into peoples inboxes, or making spiteful gifsets or moodboards or memes or fic where the female character/s get beaten up, or trying to pick fights with people who like it. For me, I hate watch, and then I turn it off and forget about it. I'm genuinely fascinated by the urge to stew in those feelings and create out of those feelings, and I think about it a lot from like, a character standpoint (lowkey want to write a tv show or a novel about fandom, but that's a whole other thing, hahaha), because it's just so bizarre to me.

It's also like - - not liking something is fine. Media and storytelling is subjective! You bring to it your own experiences and thoughts and history and context! That's kind of the point! No two people's experience of a story is ever going to be entirely the same.

But there does seem to be this idea at the moment with some people, especially in this fandom, that something has to be objectively bad as a means of validation for not liking the thing, which is wildly unnecessary. Something can be good and you can not like it, just like something can be bad and you can like it, but this committment to making sure storylines, characters, beats, etc are blasted as 'objectively bad' is artificial and, to me, has created a lot of bad faith arguments in this fandom.

So yes! Point is I cannot answer the why but would love to know, haha.
