Lexington (CV-2) - May, 1942 Series: Logbooks of U.S. Navy Ships and Stations, 1941 - 1983 Record Group 24: Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel, 1798 - 2007

During the Battle of the Coral Sea over May 7-8, 1942, the aircraft carrier USS Lexington suffered multiple torpedo and bomb strikes, and despite valient damage control efforts, was sunk on May 8, 1942.

Constructionman Recruit’s Log: 16FEB18

1326: Got a new laptop for 500. Retails for over 1000. The barracks always has great deals if you know where to look and have connections like I do.

Hung out with Achilles last night. His wife is odd but aren’t we all? I’m not used to this keyboard having 4 more keys for the Italian characters we don’t use in English. Will take getting used to.

Gonna try and get steam to work so I can play DDLC. Looks great, any VN described as gore, horror, and full of anime girls can probably make me nut which is always a benefit. Mom said the twins put shit in the mail for me. I’m happy, I wanna decorate this room. Aside my mess it doesn’t look lived in at all.

Jetlagged and scatterbrained edition

Made it to Italy. No Wi-Fi for a week, so it's 2G season. All bags made it too. Room is spacious, and I see a spot for books and my PlayStation soon. Will watch more anime as I'm now free. Reading too. Very nice.

Room is 241. Nice place. Head was trashed though.

Comstructionman Recruits Log: JAN 9 2018

2007: Flight to duty station cancelled for 25 hours. Got a night in the hotel ahead of me. It's spooky as shit. The room is eerily cold and light dances from where the window is.

My back hurts and I probably got a fever. Fuck it, I'm built Ford tough baby heehaw.

Constructionman's Log: 06JAN18

ID still stolen, yes, someone stole my military ID and credit card. Another mad dash to get a new one before I leave to my duty station on Tuesday will ensue. I do have a replacement bank card though.

Got called attractive, of course it was more strangers online but I've never heard it in person from someone aside my mother so I'll take it. She wasn't too bad herself.

I'm skipping family breakfast today. I don't feel like it, mostly because all the spicy food last night left me feeling ill today. It happens. Gonna lie down, drink more water and also probably vape more. At least they're not normal cigarettes. Can't believe I ever did that.

I'm not hung over from all those hard ciders and 40s. Good.

It's Christmas eve. I'm also gonna start using this app for stuff aside porno, which I should cut from my life.

I'm gonna meet his aunt, and tell her it's nice to see her, she really likes me and found me funny. A lot of people find me funny. Why?

Deck Log, USS RINGGOLD (DD-500), January 1, 1945.

While records held by the National Archives document the functions and activities of the Federal government, there is also a literary side to bureaucracy. Records include material related to Walt Whitman’s employment with the Department of Justice, the death of Joyce Kilmer during World War I, and Allen Ginsberg’s service in the Merchant Marines.

Also among our holdings are the unsung poets of the U.S. Navy which has a tradition of placing a poem in the ship's deck logs on the first day of the New Year.
