My Deck is Falling Apart (And Iām Finally Doing Something About It)
Confession: Iāve been ignoring my rotting deck forĀ wayĀ too long. Every spring, I tell myself, āThis is the year Iāll fix it!ā and then⦠I donāt. But after one too many āoh god, was that aĀ squish?ā moments underfoot, Iāve accepted that this is no longer a DIY situation.
I started researching deck replacements, and let me tell youāthere areĀ soĀ many options. Composite? Pressure-treated? What about railings? Do I go classic wood or something more modern? I was drowning in choices until I found Woodbine ContractingāsĀ services pageĀ (here). It broke everything down in a way that didnāt make my brain short-circuit. They even mentioned custom designs, which got me thinking beyond the basic rectangle Iāve got now.
What really stuck with me was the idea of blending the deck into the landscapingāsomething I hadnāt even considered. Right now, my deck justā¦Ā exists, separate from the yard. But what if it flowed into a little stone path or had built-in planters? Iām not saying I need a full-on resort backyard, but a little cohesion would be nice.
Still gathering quotes, but for the first time, Iām actually excited instead of overwhelmed. Maybe by fall, Iāll have a deck that doesnāt threaten to collapse under the weight of a single potted plant.
