As many of you know a group of folks from the community along with the Native American Indian Commission have been working to have the statue of #Columbus removed from #Grand Park. A flyer got out with details for the removal, and although not everything is in place to take it down, please hold the date and time. It is my sole opinion that the reason we are still waiting for the county’s agencies to sign documents is that they want to minimize the visibility of the removal. Along the way the county really botched this process, lied to the community, and is now trying to make amends. But still, not everyone from the county is happy about this. We need folks to share this and bring attention to it. We also need people to show up and celebrate this moment. We have to celebrate the small wins along with the big ones. There’s more work to do to ensure real equity, inclusion and decision making power.
